I think the prize line has become something of a mixed blessing for Mr. Taylor. Yeah, he does get a lot of flack for it but it's also gotten him more attention and has even be cast in some creative and humorous ways. There are those who have even come to like Jacob because of that meme. Better to embrace it that try to ignore it because it isn't going to go away.

Edit: Happy page 140!

I hate the bad Rap Jacob gets, jsut because of the prize line and that it makes him "treat sheaprd like a piece of meat" Jacob's better han that, it's shown throughout the game!

The most annoying thing is that Shepard is the one that starts it, Jacob just goes along because he thinks Shep likes it.
Also people hate him because he's the only normal person on the Normandy.:pinched:

Bioware made both Shepards pretty creepy imo in ME2.... I really like the voice actors but sometimes the romances sound like creepy stalker situations...

I also don't think JT is normal because he is a super awesome pirate... Bioware just decided that no one wanted to talk about that AWESOME fact... for whatever lame reason... just like they decided to make a game about him no one will play.... even though it covers a lot of back story and actually develops character... which again... no one wants to know about...

I'm not going to buy an I-phone or an I-[pd touch just to play some stinking game on a tiny screened phone gahhhh ;-;

Sheploo has the smile, FemShep has her perverted talks with Jacob.

Still compared to the rest of the crew he is the normal guy. I hoped his loyalty mission would be about the Corsairs, but no. Biowarerelly did their best at making Jacob the boring one according by the masses.
I hate it too, why won't they improve some things and release it on XBLA?

You know what else... of all the non-classified crew members Bioware didn't even give Jacob a trailor video on his page on their site...  I mean... they pretty epically fail at setting up and developing a character from making a game for a phone to their lousy remodle and bad lines... wtf...

I'm not just going to complain though  I have a solution.... SOLUTIONS!!!
To make up for their fail they should make a DLC about Jacob and the Corsairs... it could delve deeper into the past of the Alliance military, Jacob, Miranda, and even Cerberous.  It would also help to reveal some of the more secretive workings of the ME universe.  Of course... for me to even CONSIDER buying this potentially awesome dlc there will have to be voice actors in it.... tf w/ dlc and no dialog?  I'm pretty sure the crew will have lots to say about something like that and they better damn well say it.  For crying out loud they could go Zelda on me and just type all the lines out and I wouldn't care... gimme character development now!

I wouldn't say no to a Jacob DLC, but I think we both know it's just not going to happen.  He is probably the least popular squadmate in ME2.  The game he starred in was poorly received.  I think the only real hope for Jacob is Mass Effect 3.  And, with all of the other potential squadmates, that's a slim hope at best.

Well to me Garrus wasn't particularly exciting in ME1 either... so yeah. I hope they will make Jacob's story deeper in ME3. To me he actually was more interesting than Kaiden... his "I'm not forcing these talks with you" line actually got me interested in what he would eventually say, rather than pissing me off like most other squadmate lines.

I strongly believe that Bioware will improve the Jacob Taylor character before they remove him in Mass Effect 3, sure the Jacobmancer is a rare, elusive creature, but it does exist (130+ pages on this thread is testiment to that). Since ME 3 is the grand finale, I don't think Bioware will drop any of the romance intrests in it.

I'm playing my second Femshep and I've noticed that Jacob has a lot of romance-initiating dialogue options compared to the other crewmembers - it's as if Bioware put more thought about that into him.

I certainly hope you're right.  How sad would it be if all we got were an email, though?

I like to be optimistic but how funny would it be if they just dropped dialog all together... I mean... if they really wanna bring back the whoooollle crew for ME3 they are either going to have a lot of voice work to do or they are just going to be lame and since JT is not the most popular character ever he may get the shortest end of that stick. That's another reason it might be good to tell more story about Jacob and some other characters in DLC form because if they wait until ME3 they'll have a lot of catching up and explaining to do which I don't see them doing unless they go back to a more ME1 style... which... you know... had dialog and character development... and friendship....

And no Spam and tanks made out of paper!
I hope they will do a better job with the LIs in ME3, put some thought in it Bioware! I know you can do it!:wizard:
How would Jacob's DLC be called?

I would call it something like Alliance Corsair or Remnants or something... not terribly creative I guess. While I would have Jacob play a large part in it I would also think that Miranda and some one like Captain Anderson would be pretty important. It would probably widen appeal if the living human LI was some how tied into it as well.

And also then their fans would buy it and maybe it will also make them like Jacob.
You could be on some mission invastigating the Corsairs and then encounter the Virmire Survivor, maybe the Alliance sent them because they didn't wanted a Cerberus Operative invastigating the Corsairs or some orignal reason.

Just looking through some photos and realized; "Dang, Bioware gave Jacob's naked torso some downright loving detail."

Doesn't stop him for being the WORST starting partymember in any Bioware game I played (KOTOR, ME1, ME2, DA:O)

You've been a real good friend to me, so let me respectfully remind you that this is the Jacob "Support Thread". There are plenty of places where you can talk about your opinion of Jacob. I and everyone here do not share your opinion, you are welcome to it nonetheless --and I will not hold any dislike towards Jacob against you-- but I'll ask that you please respect our opinion as well and let us have a place where we can talk freely about it.

I wish they would have paid that much attention to his torso when it is clothed... and given him some armor... of course I have that problem with pretty much all the characters anyway... spandex won't protect you from bullets or lasers or w/e they use, forget the biotic shield because it doesn't last for ever none of the shields do... armor people... go into battle wearing armor... not your pajamas...

I really like Jacob's Orange and black suit better because it seems to make him look more proportionate to me... where as when he is wearing the white and black one it makes his waist look really tiny... and supportive :o *wink wink*

If they are going to have JT in that junky armor anyway, which I actually did think were his pj's for a while because... honestly... you work security for a top secret facility in THAT?,.... anyway... I'd rather just have him running around SHIRTLESS! Jack does it all the time... So I vote for a permanently shirtless Jacob!

When Jacob has his white and black outfit on, he looks wedge-shaped. Like you could use him to split logs.

Oh my goodness, the innuendic potential...

In a way, his outfit is just as sexualized as Miranda's.  The use of black to slim his waist helps shape his body into an exaggeration of the ideal male physique, especially with the white for contrast.

I will not stand by and allow this slander to continue.  Oghren.  That's all I should have to say.

Edit: Just noticed you said "starting" party member.  Well, Oghren is almost a starting party member in Awakening.

You know I like to savor the last swing before wedging the log ;)

That is true... but the slimming goes to far imo...  Honestly I put Miranda in black as soon as I get the outfit because I'm afraid my TV will overload during the gratuitous shots of her ass.  Which I also have a problem with... seriously... it's... like... jello with a wedgi.... and I don't understand why I have to look at it so often... it doesn't really help the plot... unless the plot is about her butt...

Don't get me wrong, I actually came to like Miranda over the course of the game... mostly I'm just miffed at bioware... :crying:... because we can have lots of ass but not so much character developement... or DLC with you know some dialog...
