Haters can all go to hell IMHO. The bad thing about JT haters is that alot of them hate him only because other people hate him...

Haters are now Diamonds!... and we will use them to buy JT some friggin epic armor... then we will get Garrus some armor with out holes that I don't have to buy from some cheap back handed dlc... and get legion a decent patch.... But the other fan groups can be vocal too and they are all bigger, except fans of hated characters, like Udina of Velarn, so we will be overwhelmed, but we will hold the line! FOR JT!

I liked Jacob when he wasn't in the debriefing room. He always acted kind of weird around the new squaddies. But yeah, he was an all around decent dude. I only wish my Shep could talk to him without openly hitting on him. I was keeping my Shep loyal to Kaidan but that horny lady was more interested in just 'talking'. It was like a cloud of weird writing surrounded Jacob. Poor guy!

Why does people only have to love the crazy ones while the normal guy who's also your only friend and he's the only one who isn't very eager to talk about his problems...

Bioware kind of sets him up for failure by having him irritate the fan favorite, Tali.  And his distrust of Thane, the character with the most gratuitously awesome introduction in the game, can't win him too many fans.  I don't really know what to make of his commentary on Samara.

Bioware really did their best to make Jacob the least popular one...

Ahem thread lurker injection....I really think they tried to make the jacob romance, hot, slick and sexy, filled with sexual tension, but it just failed and came off cringing. I guess they though fangirls would enjoy the flirtation even if they werent trying to romance him, but when I first played I just went WTF and wanted to stop talking to him. I dunno I think they just tried waaaaaaaaaaay to hard to make it the sexy romance, Voice = sexy, Appearance (debatable) but with that body definately the intention to make him look sexy, dialogue sexy? NO! FAIL! I feel sorry for the voice actor having to deliver the infamous "Prize" line lool
Anyway thats been my take recently.
Jacob sexy, Thane romantic, Garrus sweet.

Edit: I think Jacob has/had the potential to be a popular character or atleast less hated. I think the problem with him is that the devs listened to how Kaidan got called whiney all the time which made him unpopular so for Jacob they tried to avoid that by having him refuse to talk about his problems. But then I think that became a problem in itself in that he didnt have anything to say and so he's labelled boring.
Right now I don't feel much way about Jacob, I do hope however that  they improve him for ME3, if he's still a squad member that is.

Did you play a different ME2? The only squad member Jake had a problem with was Thane.
