Ya know they never talk about his mom, I think we can assume she is dead (he didn't contact her about his dad). *Adds another point to the "Things Bioware didn't explore with Jacob list"

There are three possible scenarios about that.

1. Jacob didn't what to hurt his mother more by telling her that her husband was alive the last 10 years but is now dead/in prisoned
2. Jacob's mother died after his father being listed as MIA and presumed dead
3 She had died before Ronald went missing. (This is the most likely in my opinion)

Yeah Gash he is the only love interest that says he loves Shepard. I could understand the Garrus fandom, he's from the original game after all. Thane though, he talks incessantly about his dead wife. What woman wants to hear that?

I think the reason why BW made Thane having a dead wife because they want to play upon that idea that women have this idea to heal a broken man (this can be applied to Garrus as well), which worked well with Carth from KOTOR (recalling that most guys hated this poor guy's guts) I think that in comparison to Jacob's romance, there is none of that "healing a broken man" thing. I suppose if the romance was paced and directed differently (along with removing heated FemShep voice), it would've been easier to interpret for others, but in this world of the wide world web, people jump to conclusions pretty quickly (like that Miranda requires a better man line, etc.)

As for the Jack romance, if the Paragon route of that romance didn't imply that ManShep and Jack were having sex, then it would've been better.

Tvtropes calls that "Weakness Turns Her On.:P

I don't know. I thought the Jack romance was handled well. You turn her down when offers to sleep with you. You talk to her about problems and no matter how much she pushes you away you let her know that you'll be there for her. After all that she comes to Shepard's quarters on her own looking for something real, instead of just carnal sex.

But there's no way to go "Hey, Jack. I want to be your friend." - any dialogue that doesn't straight out say to Jack "HEY FUX U LAWL" leads to a romance.

That's every romance in the game basically. I''ve played ME2 so much I know where the cut off point is for every character.

As have I but at least Tali / Miranda has a "chill out, we're just friends" option. Jack's "just friends" is like "I'M TIRED OF WAITING FOR YOU GOD DAMN" and it's like... Whoa, I did NOT want that.

I was pretty miffed the way Jack behaves towards Femshep when the dialog is over... I thought we were friends... but meh....

I would say Jacob did have some trauma... I mean, he lost his father who he held as a role model as a young man. Though I admit it isn't half as traumatic as what many of the crew has been through... but in the ME universe loved ones apparently drop like flies... so what can you do... =/

it's easier to place the squaddie if they have no family, hence no strings attached... it seems like a good proportion of the characters have "daddy problems" (mummy problems are a bit complicated)

I assume you are referring to Jacob and Capt...Councilor Anderson. Not exactly accurate. Chairman Burns, Ronald Taylor, and the Doctor from the Hugo Gernsback (her name escapes me) all come to mind.

This as nothing to do with what is being discussed right now.

Last night when I was playing SVR I came a cross a guy who was using a 'Katsumi' CAW. I check his files and he had made the hole squad in create a wrestler.

Some were good, others not so much. I will post pics later.

I don't think the doctor has a name.

Question: For combat, does anybody get rid of Barrier for JT on the Shadow Broker Base using the Advanced Training thing, or do you guys prefer to let him have the power for the increased defense?

I don't see a reason to get rid of Barrier. It gives Jacob a good balance of attack and defence.

The thing that irks me about it is the damn recharge time. I haven't tried getting rid of Barrier yet, but I will next chance I get

I'm not bothered by the recharge time(s), it is fact that during the 'cool down' you can't use other powers. But Jacob's ability with the shotgun and my suicidal combat style that tends not to be problem.

I don't even bother with barriers... I just die all the time :D... but yeah I did try barrier and the cool down time drove me crazy... especially as a Vanguard then as an Adept.... I wish they would go back to the ME 1 way of doing things and have cool downs be specific to that power...

Festi you should try Soldier with Slam and Vanguard with Inferno Grenade. Talk about fun ****.

I don't use barrier. I usually use Geth Shield Boost, since no enemies don't technically use Overload (but warp removes Barrier pretty quickly)

If only I have the LotSB DLC... D:

I really like Dominate for my adepts/Sententials, because it's cool to see your enemies turn to allies (good for crowd control too).

But we should get back on track to Jacob. Maybe they should have given Jacob a defense-stripping power (Warp/Overload) than his ammo power (Grunt takes care of that)
