Hello Jacob thread. I'd like to know your opinions on Jacob's romance. A win, a fail? Something in between?



What do you think about Jacob dumping Shepard if Shepard presses on about Jacob's father? Do you agree with his decision to do that?

I wonder if someone put the clip up on Youtube. I've finished ME2 8 times so far. I have Male Shep for every romance (Ashley, Liara, Tali, Miranda, and Jack). I have finished the game with 3 Femsheps. Two went with Jacob and one is still pining over Kaidan. I made fourth and I wanted to see what would happen if you kept pressing Jacob to open up more. He gets agitated and if you keep pushing. He dumps you. I thought it was pretty funny actually. I didn't think anyone could resist Shepard. Next thing you know they'll start giving squadmates "I should go" powers and they'll start walking off in the middle over your conversations.

He probably dumps Shep because she reminds him of Miranda's bs. I truly believe now without any doubt that it was Jacob that dumped Miranda and not the other way around.

Hmm....I didn't think about that. I think you are right. Especially when you combine it with the look of longing Miranda gives Jacob after his loyalty mission.

Don't know how I missed Collider's post, but I answered your question about Jacob dumping Shepard in a previous post. I thought it was great. I don't like being pressed to talk about something. If you have to badger me about it. I don't want to talk about it. I understand Jacob's reaction and I most likely would have had a similar one.

That's what I find most ironic. Garrus is arguably the squadmate who "whines" the most, but at the same time he's one of the most popular characters. Jacob or Kaidan would definitely get a lot of crap for the whining aspect if they replaced him. 

But enough of that. I really wouldn't mind the suppose "romance" DLC pack since a lot of people found Jacob's romance lacking. It could probably a mission where the romantic interest plays a large supporting role similar to Liara in the Lair of the Shadow Broker.

To some extent I support "whining" as it's defined within the game. You really can't expect people to not want to take care of personal family business at some point when they know they're going into a situation that will very likely result in the loss of their lives. It's like getting your affairs in order when you have a terminal illness. And finding out your father might not be dead when you thought he was is a lead worth chasing down.

Have completed a fic, Second, dealing mainly with Garrus and Miranda, but Jacob plays a substantial role as well. Thought y'all might appreciate a fic where JT's shown a little love.

"How's it feel now?" Jacob watched the turian lift his sniper rifle to his eye.

Garrus sighted first down the bore and then through the sight. The weapon's balance had been dipping at the barrel because of new optics, but thanks to Jacob's modifications the rifle now rested comfortably in his talons.

"Oh, yes," he purred. "That's nice. Very nice, indeed! I think I'll take it."

"Cash or credit?"

"Put it on my tab," Garrus continued to adjust his aim around the armory. "This is some damn fine hardware. Thanks for putting it together for me."

"No problem," Jacob said. "I'm in favor of anything that helps our sniper put rounds on target. Especially if he's covering me." Attaching the top-secret sighting system to the weapon probably was against regulations, but Garrus had already proven his worth several times over and giving him the technology could only improve the mission's chance of success.

Jacob activated his omni-tool. "Let me send you the manual. There are some calibrations you'll want to make after you have some live fire time."

"Roger that," Garrus said and lowered the rifle. He looked it over and chuckled. "A Cerberus scope on a turian rifle. Heads will explode without ever firing a shot."

Jacob laughed. "Yeah, just don't go posting reviews on the extranet. I still need my pension."

"It's not a bad combination, really. The original Normandy was a joint turian-human endeavor."

"I know it. Helluva ship. It's not the only thing that turians and humans put together that clicked, either. I mean, look  at you and the Commander."

Garrus nodded with satisfaction. "That has worked out rather well."

"If it wasn't for you, we'd all be reaper fodder by now." Jacob leaned back against his workbench. "Man, I'd give anything to have been there with you guys."

Garrus collapsed the rifle into its transport configuration. He appreciated the thought, but the glory of the battle of the Citadel had long since faded for him. "Well it wasn't all parades and medal ceremonies, if that's what you mean."

"Oh, hell no," Jacob said. "Just the chance to make a difference... regardless if anybody knows about it. I know how the Council works. ****, that's why we're here now, right? No good deed goes unforgotten."

"That sounds like personal experience talking," Garrus said.

Jacob wore a sour expression. "Well, I did a favor for 'em once, too. Stopped an assassination attempt on the entire Council. Not on the scale of you and Shepard, of course, but the end result was the same."

"Buried?"

Jacob nodded. "Then paved over, with a nice shopping mall built on top."

I like this very much, you really kept JT in character, great job and thanks for sharing with us! I read the entire fic tommorow, since it's a bit too late here for reading.

Hey.  Thanks for sharing that.  It's always great to see Jacob fan art.  I'd produce some of my own, but I don't have easy access to a scanner and I am one of the worst wacom artists you will ever find.

You're probably better than me. I've had ideas for Mass Effect 2 web comics, some involving Jacob, but I fail as a artist.
