One thing I hate is when Tali fans blame Jacob for the confrontation between the two characters. Jacob is courteous while tali is sarcastic and rude but when Jacob mentions EI he's "upsetting the already antagonized Tali" Tali is a pure B*tch in that scene yet it's Jacob who takes the blame for that despite being a gentlemen. *end of random rant*

I just think that scene is poorly written.  Jacob would have to know how such a line would come off, yet there's no indication in his tone that he's doing it to be malicious.

Eh, I think it was just kind of a "derp" moment for Jacob.  Everyone blurts something without thinking every once in a while.  I imagine him to be really embarrassed afterward.

I agree that it does seem derp worthy, but then again can you imagine If Jacob doesn't warn her and Then tali runs to shepard "The ship is infected with an AI! Abandon ship!!!!" ? at least she knows about it now.

He and Garrus might get along too, but honestly they are both too high-strung.

Lol. My Shep that's holding out for Ash will be imported from a save where He, Garrus, and Jacob are all at the Afterlife strip club.

Since that Shep is a Sentinel I ran with those two for most of that game. They made for a very optimal squad.

Jacob is a nice and ordinary (in a good way) guy. He is honestly trying to make Tali feel welcome. And he understands her scepticism about Cerbederp.

Yeah.  I get his intentions, but...  Bad presentation there, Jacob.

Eh, goof-ups like that make him human.  Characters are more fun when they're flawed, you know?

Honestly, I think that line was a jab at Tali, she was being pretty bi*tchy anyways, especially when Jacob was trying to nice/friendly with her. I hated that scene though, I don't like when two of my favorite characters fight.

Agreed. I thought it was obvious Jacob said that line on purpose. It was a backhanded welcome after Tali got out of pocket earlier when he was being polite. That's not the only misunderstood line in his dialogue. "She requires a better man than I" is the other one.

Okay so, just a question here....

Anyone else think he looked better in ME Galaxy? Even if it is only 2D animation?

I can see the appeal of both styles.  I think he looks fine in ME2, though he has some awkward angles.  Profiles, for instance, aren't exactly flattering for poor Jacob.

Here's a picture of ME:G Jacob for reference.

I always thought he looked a lot like Louis from Left4Dead.

Anyway, I prefer ME2 Jacob over ME:G Jacob.

I thought the same about that line but honestly Tali deserved it after how she acted towards him.  Jacob was my favourite character in the game he better be back in ME3.

I was actually discussing this topic on another board. I didn't think Jacob was malicious. Jacob's VA did pretty good job in ME2 and if he was supposed to be malicious in that scene his voice inflection would have indicated it. I like Tali one of my favorite characters in ME but she was just being a B in that scene.

well =) we all have bad days. No one is a angel all the time. I really like Tali, she's the little sis of my F!Shep. What do you think is the best q to bring Jacob along to aside from his own q?

I was hoping he'd have some unique dialogue during Miranda's quest since the two knew each other for so long. Bioware dropped the ball there.

Jacob works great on Mordin's loyalty mission though. I always smirk when I make a crack a Cerberus during it a Jacob scoffs "Thanks alot."

What are you guys talking about "nothing that sounded like Malicious intent?" He says it in such an artificially happy way it's obviously a stab at Tali.

Now for the record I'd say he was justified. He was nothing but nice to Tali yet she insisted on being hostile. She didn't even give Jacob, the person, a chance but instead just grouped him in with the Cerberus cells that were bad.

She even went so far as to actively ignore him so yeah, he had all the cause in the world to be a little testy.

You guys have probably seen this before, but as someone put up Jacob as Louis pic, this is one of my favourite Jacob fan arts.  I hate husks By Rabbitzoro on DA.
