I wonder what they'll have Jacob doing in his time that's not spent on Shepard's squad. Hopefully leading ground forces since he's one of the chosen "good" fire team leaders.Darc_Requiem wrote...

I guess Bioware really didn't want to ****** off the Tali and Garrus fanbases then.

But hey, if it really bothers everyone that much, I'll edit/remove it. No harm no foul
See, there we go, all gone now, with my apologies.

Well, here's a full-fledged Jacob Romance Guide if that's what you were looking for...

I was just going through the audio files for the game, and listened through quite a bit of Jacob's romance dialogue and I got to hear a lot of things I never hear because I'm always nice to him.
Notable dialogue (I believe this is all female specific):
Even if you were right, how small would my problems be if you could fix them with grad school psych and a crying jag?
I didn't think anything was wrong until you kept bringing it up. I guess that makes you my problem Shepard.
I wonder, how many talks have you had about loyalty and opening up? How many people have you persuaded to follow you? (not sure about the context on this one...)
How little do you get me if that's what you think will make everything better?
We don't need to need to worry about anything bothering me Shepard. We got a good thing starting here, don't need to invent problems.
I think I learned more about his character seeing the dialogue my Shepard never hears than what she does.
A lot of people I think found this off-putting because they're not used to their PC being rebuffed or rejected. Heaven forbid, a character has their own personality and sticks to it despite anything that Shepard says.
He is seriously offended at any implication from Shepard that he needs to be "fixed" in some way. I really love that about his character. Whether he's seriously okay about things or just keeping them bottled up, he's unaplogetic about dealing with it his own way. He's his own man, and he doesn't need Shep as a crutch, he just wants her around because he likes her as a person. And if he doesn't, you get dumped. It's kind of refreshing.

Wow, Shepard has issues.

Anyway, I get what you're saying, ELE. He's very much a character who keeps things to himself, and doesn't need Shepard to solve his problems. I liked that too.
My issue with Jacob was that he was kind of rude. Garrus has calibrations. Tali, Mordin, and Miranda have work. But Jacob, who appears to be as paragon as those characters, just doesn't really seem like he wants to talk to the Commander, or anyone. Hell, even Miranda didn't come off as so stuck up. Couldn't Jacob have said something like "I got to research some weapon mods, Commander. Maybe we can talk later?" Instead of "I'm not big on forcing these talks, Shepard!"

I agree with that. Jacob as a whole I quite like, I see a large failure in implementation combined with lack of character development (I feel that way about a lot of the ME2 characters, especially one's like Jack, where if you don't follow the romance path there's just nothing. It just ends.)
"I'm not big on forcing these talks" is maybe my least favorite line [from Jacob.] I avoid it at all costs.

I never percieved that as rude either. He's not a talking kind of guy. I like his romance line better "we've got a good thing going Shepard, let's not take it too fast" it's much better at conveying that.
Ohh.... the romance line was much much better. Haven't gotten to the romance-part yet. My shep just got the normandy back.
@ TriviaAeducan. Thanks for the links to the romance guide. If I fumble up anywhere I'll take a look.
Miss the icons from DA2. It's nice to know when you're flirting, at least then you don't miss it, as in not starting the romance.

As Jacob has said before, "Cerberus tries to get inside your head" so I don't really fault him for not wanting to open up to Shepard.
I don't fault him either and it seems in-line with his character.
It still definitely comes off as rude to me, but I think that might have been the intention. To me it's the tone, more so than the wording that is jarring. It's the way he says "Already?" He sounds irritated to me, but that's my perception.
That said, it goes along with his general mistrust of others from working with Cerberus. It leads into his 1st conversation (?) where he is very abrupt, before apologizing for sounding so 'tight-ass'.
I can't fault him for being wary of new people though, I'm the same way. I've heard more than once 'before I got to know you I thought you were a total jerk'.
Perceptions and interpretations vary of course. Especially with Jacob I've noticed.

Shepard: "We have to name her first"
Joker: "I'm drawing a blank."
Jacob:"Maybe we should ask EDI. The Normandy is basically her body."
Tali:
Jacob:
Miranda:"No one has any ideas?"
EDI:"I get it. This a joke."
Garrus:"How about the Palaven?"
Grunt:"How about Ship? It's simple and to the point."
Liara:"I can use my vast network of contacts to delineate a proper name."
Udina:"Are these the kind of people we want saving the galaxy"
Anderson: *facepalm*
EDI:"You all realize that Normandy has already been painted on the side..."

So what ME3 news is everyone looking forward to hearing at E3? Hopefully some good news about Jacob will be announced.
He'd better be back in a large capacity. I'm going to be replaying the game to give him a better Shep, after all.
