Oki guys. Can you help me out with a Jacob question here. First time around ME2 I got Jacob the wrong way pretty much all the time. His comment that Miranda needed a better man than him got me thinking that he wasn't over her and I left him alone as far as the romance goes. Read a disscusion here about it being more of a remark that he found Miranda a bit high maintance. That really got me thinking and I see him in a very different way now after romancing him in one game.
So here is my new question. When your Shep are just about to start the SM, you are planning what do do after the Normandy has crashed. Why does Jacob volunteer to do the tech-job that he himself says is pretty much a suicide job.
Jacob: That's pretty much a suicide job, I volunter
My Shep:
1st reaction: But you said we should spend some time after this *slight tremble on the lower lip*

.
2:nd reaction: "You aint going nowhere. Leave that job to a techie and get your good looking ass over here, you're coming with me".
Oki, so what is it that I'm missing this time around

is Jacob trying to get the team to feel pumped up for the mission, by stepping up to take a dangerous part himself. You know, lead by example sort of? Just interested to hear how you look at it.
edit: spelling as always
