For whatever reason, they made the human romances essentially one night stands, just Jacob's got made into a really bad porno.

Paragon Jack is not a one night stand. If you choose certain options, neither is Miranda. Jacob I have no idea because I haven't seen the whole thing.

Should have mentioned that Paragon Jacks is not a one night stand and is my second favorite romance.

Miranda's...I dunno, it felt like a one night stand, and it didn't at the same time with me, I never liked it that much.

And no matter what you do it feels like a one night stand with Jacob, I've tried trust me.

Does anyone have a theory as to what the Bioware romance writers were thinking when they did Jacob's romance. I know they try to cover a broad area of interests concerning the LI's, but what area does Jacob's cover? Specifically the dialog and the way it is spoken between FemShep and Jacob.

Miranda and Jacob - Sexy and flirtatious romance with human leads
Tali and Garrus - Awkward, cute romance with long time friends
Jack - Thane - Tragic romance with tragic characters

QFT

I get the feeling that Miranda/Jacob we're seen as the default romance options for players new to the franchise. Tali/Garrus had the cute fanservice for fans of ME1 going. Thane/Jack had the more complex and complicated thing going. Kelly seemed to be thrown in as a joke. (And probably to give the hopelessly inept some chance at getting some...) Miranda/Jacob seemed like they were written to be easy for a new player to relate to and interact with. I'm not saying they succeeded with the implementation. Just that seemed to have been their motive.

Miranda and Jacob were made for the people who also/only go for the looks, not only the personality. Bioware did a good job with Miranda, she opens up to you, tells you about her family and als at the en of her loyalty mission when you convince her to talk to her sister, that adds to her character.
But they could do a better job with Jacob, he should open up, tells more about Corsairs, femshep should talk to him normally (I don't remember maleShep talking to Miranda like femshep does to Jacob, before you start the romance) and also give him a scene like Miri had with her sister or Tali when she discovered her fathers body.

In that way they could keep him normal, but still make him popular.

btw I've finished Sand's and Serina's profile, I'll write some extra info about UPSC and then I'll put it online.

I agree with Gash Miranda and Jacob were just for people who go for looks. But the reason Miranda's romance is better is because Bioware put all there focus on a Male Shepard. They put very little effort in to making FemShep different. But Jacob's romance is probably the best (for FemShep) in the way that she and Jacob actually talk and have conversations. The only down side is the voice acting, I have no Idea what Jenifer Hale was thinking when she read the script.

Maybe she did it for the lulz?;)

The UPSC universe is done, I'm putting all Word documents in one .rar file and then I'll upload it on Megaupload
I will put it online in 5 mins.

SRN-6830-24 (Serina)

Age: 21 years (AI’s lost their age limitation after the
discovery of the Shanxi Cave in 2367)

Place of birth: Reach

Serina is a UPSC smart ship AI. Ship AI’s are made with only
one goal: operating UPSC ships, unlike SPARTAN AI’s (like CTN-0452-9
“Cortana” or RMZ-0269-5 “Ramirez”) which are made to do everything an AI possibly
can do.  Serina met Gash on Yokohama and she stayed with him when he got promoted, just like Sand. She’s one of the best Ship AI’s, her processing power matches the processing power of the more
advanced SPARTAN AI’s.

Personality:

She has a British accent. She has  a caring personality. She often acts sarcastic, and for people who don’t know her she seems to not care about anyone.

Trivia:

Serina  has a theoretical interest in chocolate

Whe she’s off duty (UPSC AI’s need to rest to
maintain 100% efficency) she watches Sci-Fi
with Admiral Gash.

Because of that she also uses Sci-Fi quotes,
like “Spinning up FTL drive” from BSG or Captain Picard’s “Make it so!”

She has a fascination with human relationships.

She flirts with Gash often, she tried to flirt
with Sand once, but he took it seriously and walked silently away with an
uncomftarble expresssion.

Her name "Serina" means "Serine", "Calm".

She brought Admiral Gash on the idea of MAC’ing Innies (give them a space suit, load in the MAC, aim at an asteroid, enjoy the show)

Captain Terrence Sand

Age: 45

Place of birth: Earth

Personality:

 He’s the classic
example of a good UPSC officer. He follows the rules, has a perfect haircut and
always salutes when he sees a superior officer. He was married, but his wife
was killed by Innie supporting Batarians after his ship had destroyed a
Innie-Batarian base. He has a son, Thomas (24), but he doesn’t want to see his
father, because he blames him for his mother’s death.  He’s a good friend of Admiral Gash, he even
calls him John when they’re no other people around.

Carreer:

Sand enlisted when he was 18. He reached Commander rank at
age of 26 and was assigned as the XO of Rear Admiral John Gash, because HIGHCOM
knowed about that Gash doesn’t  always follows the rules and he dislikes politics, so they thought that assinging Sand as his XO might help. First Gash didn’t liked Sand because he was so formal,
but later they became  good friends. During his service as the XO of the Yokohama Sand got promoted to Captain and HIGHCOM wanted to give him a ship, but he refused. When Gash was promoted to
Fleet Admiral he recieved a new ship. Again Sand could get his own ship, The
Yokohama, but he refused again, saying that commanding his own ship would be
too much for him and he rather leaves that to Gash.

Trivia:

Sand
dissaproves of Admiral’s and Serina’s addiction to Sci Fi, when one of
them starts to using Sci-Fi quotes he mutters to himself “There we go again”.

He isn’t a big fan of AI’s,  but he understands that UPSc needs AI’s.

He’s  xenophobic, he hates aliens, but he doesn’t show that.

He has a collection of old firearms from 20 and
21st century in his quarters

UPSC Armor:

Polarized Armor:

UPSC uses polarized armor for their defense. Polarized armor
applies electromagnetic power to the hull what makes it several magnitudes
harder. Polarized Titanium A is 10x stronger then regular Titanium A.
Electromagnetic power depletes after recieving enough damage, just like
shields, but UPSC ships still have their armor left, something the ships of
other known races lack. UPSC frigates’ unpolarized armor  can shrug off a direct hit from a Turian
Dreadnought without a problem.

Soldier Amor:

Mk34 Polarized Armor

The standard Marine armor. It’s cheap to make and easy to
mass produce. It’s extremely resilent to ballistic weapons fire, but it doesn’t
provide full protection like kinetic barriers.

Mk27 Polarized Special Operations Armor

The armor used by UPSC Spec Ops unit, The Orbital Drop Shock
Troopers. ODST armor offers more protection then Mk34 Marine armor and it’s vacuum-rated;
capable of Extra-Vehicular Activity for fifteen minutes.

MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI

The newest and strongest type of UPSC armor.  It is also the heaviest armor and can be only worn by SPARTAN II Super-Soldiers. The armor feautures:

[*]Integrated computer system which continuously monitors weapons, biological functions, and motion through intelligent motion-sensing radar.
[*] The ability to store and use a smart-AI.
[*] A helmet camera that is constantly recording the wearer's actions. The helmet also has the ability to watch recordings, such as the ones found in marine helmets.
[*]Energy shielding (developed by UPSC, they’re not kinetic barriers), powered by a fusion pack on the wearer's back. The shield strength can be adjusted in any parts of the suit. For example, the wearer may wish to reduce or completely remove the shielding around the fingers, as it would be difficult to handle weapons and equipment with it, as the shield has been described as "slippy".
[*] The suit allows the wearer to open secure COM signals by merely "thinking" of doing it, and if the person in the suit is talking, the helmet doesn't allow any sound to leave the helmet unless the wearer wishes to, which makes him or her able to communicate via radio without creating any sound.
[*]The suit is airtight, hardened against vacuum, and features air-filtration systems as well as a built-in oxygen re-breather system that can last for up to 90 minutes.
[*] The helmet is able to enhance and isolate sounds, described as being able tohear a water drop in a sandstorm.
[*]Magnetic plates in the upper thigh plates allowing the user to holster a sidearm
[*]directly onto the thigh-plate.
[*] Recoil-compensating actuators.
[*]Hydrostatic gel to regulate and monitor temperature and dampen impact force
[*]Helmet-integratedbinoculars, infraredvision, UV-vision and night vision, as well as a standard issue flashlight with itsown separate power supply.
[*] Automatic Biofoam injectors. A large amount of biofoam can be stored in the suit, and be automatically dispensed into any part of the body when necessary.
[*]Magnetic soles on the suit's boots that allow the wearer to stand on a high moving metal object, such as a ship's hull.
[*]The suitis able to automatically pressurize to compensate for the addition or lackof gravity as a life-saving mechanism.
[*]The suit is able to shift colors automatically, and urine can be reprocessed by thesuit to drinkable fluid for the wearer.

I also forgot to mention that UPSC ships Slipspace speed in 2426 (the time the story happens) is 912LY/D (light years/day).

You can download a the rar file with Word documents of all characters and info here. Can you please read it and give me a small review what do you think of the universe (something more then I like it or this sucks)?
I know the begin doesn't really make sense (the part with Unions and Hydrogen engine), but I'm not planning to come back to that part in my fanfic. I hate this text editor, some parts of the text stayed black, I'll try to fix it.

Thanks!:wizard: It will be my first real story and also first story in English.

Nice video, I loved the campaign of ODST, not as much as Halo 2's (the game with the highest amount of Johnson one liners, nothing can beat that) but it was good.

I may make a ODST spin off of UPSC sometime, or somone else could also do it (if there's a volunteer with enough knowledge of ME and the Halo universe). I'm sure you'll be suprised with the main enemy

Have you found the Easter Eggs in the story btw?
And what do you think of the whole idea of MAC'ing?

I saw it, like I've said I'm proud of you Major.
What do you think of the UPSC universe? You can download all documents (history, weaponry, characters, armor) in one package here. They're Word documents, so they're easier to read then the ones on the forum and it feautures a pic of Gash and the Armors.
It would make me happy if you read it and then write a review about things you like or things you dislike (I know the begin sucks you don't have to say that, I'll write a new one that makes more sense later, it's not important now) I need an opinion from an other person then meself.

No, it's only the universe I've made for the fanfic so I don't have to explain most of the thing in the fic. It'll be uploaded when I've finished the first chapter.
With I haven't ever used Magauload before you mean you don't want to use it or you don't know how?
If it's the second: You need to type that code that you see over to the small box, click on download (I think it was download, it's right next the box), wait until the timer under free user download runs out and then download it.

If it's the first you can also read it in this thread, but they're parts of the the UPSC history that I've added later and some things are a little out of order because this text editor doesn't want to cooperate with word. I can also upload it to an other filesharing site, just say wich.

It's the second one, I've never used Megaupload before. Well, I like what you got here so far Gash, I particularly look forward to reading more about Serina and her interactions with the crew (especially with Admiral Gash), it sounds like you will have a lot of fun with that and I look forward to the first chapter.

You don't know how much, combining my favorite universes from my favorite games and add my own stuff to it (like polarized armor).
I've just remebered that I wrote in Gash's profile that he appears to be in love with his ship and Serina is the ship (she was added later), this can get interesting.:bandit:

Don't forget Gash's and Serina's addiction to Sci Fi, that causes the references, much to Sand's annoyance. You can expect Gash to call the Geth "Frakking Toasters", Gash drinking Earl Grey HOT, Serina offering to give Jacob a visor and call him Geordie, when interacting with The Geth Gash will stick a giant poster of Admiral Adama to the wall behind him to scare them off, Serina calling the whole story of the Quarians a BSG rip off and Sand trying to survive all that crap.:D

I'm wondering now ho Gash's and Serina's realationship will end (they're just friends now), I really have no idea.

There's a hidden Star Wars joke in Gash's military career, alot of small Halo references and a MW2 one in Serina's profile, see if you can find it
