I also liked how the third squadmate had a good amount of dialogue. Even the haters are happy to see their favorite character have a speaking role.Onyx Jaguar wrote...
I think Jacob's loyalty mission was the one you were suppose to do first, almost like a tutorial loyalty mission as it were because you can't really screw it up and it had better level design than Miranda's.

I never looked at his loyalty mission like this, but I gues you're right.
Have you read UPSC meets the Council spin-off? It's a little thing I wrote as a warming up for the main story.
I'll probably upload the first chapter tommorow.
Well....um...first contact was....intresting, hahaha. I'm curious how humans will act now that they have the power to conquer the galaxy, in Mass Effect the council speices believed that to be the goal of our species at the start, the only thing stopping us was our late start on the galactic stage, but what happens when humans have the means to conquer the galaxy? A very intresting direction your taking here Gash, I look forward to more.

Agreed. He needs some sort of moment for his loyalty mision to really shine.gashgfjaskgfkagh wrote...
Only if they atleast gave him his own moment like Tali finding her fathers body or Miranda meeting her sister that kind of moments make the character more interesting.Collider wrote...
The thing with Jacob's loyalty mission is that we learned nothing new about Jacob. That's the problem, Jacob felt very sideline and side character compared to the other loyalty missions.

Well, Jacob is a human male, sharing his feelings is not acceptable (apperently even in the future). You got to bottle that stuff up and let it eat at your insides, guy protocol 101 in dealing with difficult emotional situations.

Zaeed had his moment in his loyalty mission. Jacob doesn't need to cry, he just needs a moment. Could be manly rage, for instance.LuckyIronAxe wrote...

Yeah, but Jacob is a lot more cool and collected than Zaheed, hell even with stuff he hates like Ish and Legion, all he uses is strong words.

Bioware can do it - they could have written a poignant or character insightful moment for Jacob, but they kinda didn't.LuckyIronAxe wrote...

His Personal mission was the best chance to do this and it failed

I'm bored with the whole Humanity is weak concept that many Sci-Fi use and I wanted the Council to suffer for once (imagine a SPARTAN tearing of the head of the Turian Councilor). This story happens in 2398, the main story is in 2426, the only person that would return will be Councilor Tevos (the Asari), the rest is either retired orLuckyIronAxe wrote...

dead.
Imagine that the actual Halo ships are even more powerful then UPSC ships, if the UNSC from Halo had arrived in ME universe they could conquer the Galaxy without a problem.
I had to make the MAC's less powerful, but I've increased their RoF, and I also gave UPSC polarized armor, to gave them their own kind of shielding.
I'm still thinking about the whole SerinaxGash romance, it may be an.... interesting relationship and it will be an another way to annoy the alien part of the Council. Jacob won't probably get any love I rather keep him as a soldier and you know Jacob and his romance skills....
btw The recruitement poster I've posted on the previous page is hint to the main story. You can try to figure it out if you want.

Indeed. When I was going into ME2, I was excited because I played Galaxy and miri and Jacob really intrested me. Miri delivred, but Jacob was a disapointment.

I still like Jacob (otherwise he won't get a role in my fanfiction), but Bioware really dissapointed us.

Miri delivred something too for me. Like I don't hate Jacob, but I was very disapointed in him. He had so much going for him. I think he needs a new writer.
I'll be trying to make him more interesting in my fanfiction, without going to much out of character, but if you hate Halo then it's not something for you. I've replaced The Allaince with UPSC and that's basically UNSC on crack. But I'm not planning to change it into Halo, I've made my own universe with my own characters+ME/Halo characters.
Master Chief won't be saving the Universe in this fic, neither will Shepard. The crew of the Battlecarrier UPSC The Good Stuff will do the fighting and saving.
I've written a short about the meeting between UPSC and the Council, you can download it on the previous page (I think), there's also a package with info about UPSC (history, weapons, characters etc.) somewere in this thread. I think it's on page 44.
I hope Bioware fixes Jacob in ME3 (my sig hopes it too).
