The thing with Jacob's loyalty mission is that we learned nothing new about Jacob. That's the problem, Jacob felt very sideline and side character compared to the other loyalty missions.

Only if they atleast gave him his own moment like Tali finding her fathers body or Miranda meeting her sister that kind of moments make the character more interesting.

Well, Jacob is a human male, sharing his feelings is not acceptable (apperently even in the future). You got to bottle that stuff up and let it eat at your insides, guy protocol 101 in dealing with difficult emotional situations.

Zaeed had his moment in his loyalty mission. Jacob doesn't need to cry, he just needs a moment. Could be manly rage, for instance.

I guess pulling a hand cannon and pointing it at his father's head wasn't enough rage. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/uncertain.png[/smilie].

That was more of an "Father I'm dissapoint" moment, his moment wasn't so emotinal as Miri's or Tali's.

I say give Jacob an AR for starters.

The AR wouldn't make him any more useful. In terms of damage and range I prefer the eviscerator shotgun over any assault rifle. Only time I use heavy pistol is when shooting the assault drones on Tali's recruitment mission. Jacob was tagging down more drones than Garrus with his AR. The AR is good but over rated by many here.

That's an opinion not a fact. How was Garrus more emotional?  Showing extreme emotion isn't exactly a great character trait

CC-Tron, the problem with his loyalty mission is that it did not really reveal anything new about Jacob. We already knew prior to his loyalty mission that he didn't like his father, and just like anyone else would, he was disgusted by what his father did. The loyalty mission should have been used to get more information about Jacob.

Like what?

a) His alliance days. Where did he go? What did he see? Who did he meet? How did he react to all of those things?
B) Saving the Citadel. How did he do it? What does he think of the whole thing? <-- Not new to people who played galaxy, but most people didn't anyway.
c)His corsair days. Where did he go? What did he see? Who did he meet? How did he react to all of those things?
d) His Cerberus days. Where did he go? What did he see? Who did he meet? How did he react to all of those things?
e) What about his mother? How was she like? Did Jacob get along with her? Did Jacob's father get along with his wife? What would his mother think of all of this?
f) Does he think he would ever have gotten the chance to go to this planet and right wrongs if he was still in the Alliance and was not with Cerberus?

Collider, have you ever considered killing the guys who wrote Jacob's character and replacing them?

Like what sort of things he did as a Corsair. Like how the Batarians feel about him thwarting their terrorist attack on the Citadel. Like why he'd be willing to work for a known terrorist organization -- what does it take to get someone of Jacob's moral fibre to overlook events like Akuze?

Or if you want to stick with the loyalty mission as is, how 'bout making Jacob's father the epitome of moral goodness, one Jacob aspires to, only to discover how far he fell? That'd rock Jacob to his core.

I don't believe any of the squad loyalty missions provided any where close to that level of new info about the characters. Not even talking to them on the ship provided that level of depth. Garrus doesn't talk much. Miranda doesn't provide much depth either.

That would work better, his father behaviour wasn't a suprise to him, he was just dissapointed.

All of the other loyalty missions aside from Jacob developed the character and revealed new information about the character. I actually like his loyalty mission (the environment and music is fantastic) but Jacob felt too much like a side character or was just tagging along and not like the star of the loyalty mission.

The main reason for that was that he didn't really cared about his father, like someone said before if he cared about him he will be devasted when he discovered what his father has done.

I just mean that Jacob wasn't center stage in his loyalty mission. He should have talked more, shared his views on the situation more.

In addition to what gasghfwefawefwaenfawjfn said, we also learned that Mordin was a spiritual person partly because of guilt over his experiments. He also disapproved of Maelon's way of experimentation.

I disagree. He agreed with genophage in the beginning. His opinion about it didn't change really. He still thought Genophage was necessary at the end. He was torn between having to shoot his pupil and whether to erase the research data but other than that..........not much was learned about Mordin that wasn't known before.

not much was learned about Mordin that wasn't known before.

a) He was conflicted about the genophage, felt guilt over it
B) Willing to make a cure for the genophage (character development)
c) Conflicted over Maelon
d) Disagree with Maelon's practices
e) Learned how Mordin developed the genophage and his relationships with his associates
f) Learned that his associates disbanded from each other
g) Learned that Mordin has killed people in different ways, including farm equipment =p
h) Learned that Mordin after the genophage was experimenting with religion
i) Learned that Mordin knew about human religions, and was spiritual himself partly from guilt

Collider makes some good points. The loyalty missions don't really develop any of the characters at all. Besides Jack's mission theres not much development.

I was a nice scene but not all that deep. Jacob had moments when he
faced his father face to face. You see what I'm getting at is what one
person considers to be a 'moment' may not be that for another player.
It's opinion.
