Since he is the Armory Officer, probably cleans and maintains the weaponry. Probably works out too since it was a habit he's kept up with since leaving the Alliance Marines.

He sneaks in to Shepards cabin. It's a big risk, but in there he can play with Shepards toy ships. He better hope that the commander never finds out. Only Shepard are allowed to play with the toy ships.

I just thought of this: Jacob mainatains our weaponry and armor and that means that without him Shepard will be screwed when his Revy gets to dirty.
Without Jacob everybody will be dead because of the lack of weapon maintenance!


@lovgreno: even the player can't play with Shepard's toy ships, Shepard plays with them when you're not playing the game.

Jacob is buiding his own toy ships of course! He quickly hides his models behind the guns when Shepard enters his room.
