I buy every tome I can, including the one that matches my class in the first camp scene out of Lothering,

How on earth did you manage to leave Lothering with  > 22 Gold?  I have 4 or 5 by then.

Oh, you'd be surprised how much the weapons and armor from your temporary companions in the Origins+Ostagar+Ishal sell for...

It's quite amusing to watch the Joining Ritual with Ser Jory and Daveth in their undies, though. Feels completely different.

You don't have to strip them.  You'll get their gear anyway - presumably Duncan gives it to you.

You can easily get 22 gp by being mercenary - demand a reward from everyone you help.  If for some reason you are still short, you can sell the blood dragon armor.  I never use it anyway, as by the time I have enough strength to wear it I've already got better stuff.

The City Elf is the one of my Wardens that reached Ostagar with the least in her purse, as she was unwilling to take bribes. However, there may be more here if Stealing is chosen.

If you strip Ser Jory of his weapons, you will get an extra Longsword for free as he by default needs a sword for the Joining video. The rest you don't need to strip.

You absolutely do have to strip them. It's a comic necessity. NPC's must go through the Joining in their tighty whiteys (or the medieval equivalent)

Okay.  Can't argue with necessità comica.
I think the medieval term was smallclothes and they are pretty small.Posted Image

Well some origins start off with more money/crap to sell.  If you have Blood Dragon armor and don't plan on using it there's 18? G right there if you sell it.

You only get one piece of Blood Dragon Armour in your pack at the start of the game - you must buy the rest - and it sells for just over 4 sovereigns.

Simple really. You complete all of the quest and sell everything you can and DON'T buy anything at all.

Personally i'm not sure getting a skill book there is worth the crappy armour/equipment you'll end up with if you don't buy some upgrades when they're about. Each to their own though.

I might buy one or two books throughout a play through, but i generally don't have the coin for it. If you play your characters with any sort of 'moral compass' and don't steal, it's a completely different game when it comes to coin.

By the end of the game, I hadd enough cash to buy the Andruil's Blessing belt, the Lifegiver Ring, the Spellward Amulet, and those 120 something soveriegn Vestments (Reaper's? Reaver's? I can't remember.) On top of all that, I almost 100 sovereigns going into Awakening, so there should be way more than enough to buy them all, because that's somewhere around 500 sovereigns or so.

Playing a stronger moral character will make for less gold as a rule, but one does not need to use Steal to do well in finance, None of my Warriors, nor my Warden Mage used pickpocket skills  to gain coin, and all were able to afford the best equipment and all the desired tomes.

While I do use the known  Asunder exploit for needed funds, this event occurs towards the conclusion, and does not benefit the character at Origin. This does however seem to finance a major portion of gold for Tomes and/or Runes.

The playthrough I just finished on my avatar character, I spent well over a thousand gold, and had nearly 400 left when I slew the Archdemon.  Even if you avoid stealing from every person you meet for moral reasons, combat pickpocketing can land you a rather large chunk of change. And especially memorable pick pocket for me was almost 6g during the Battle of Denerim at the end. And you can land any of Shale's crystals as well.  Shouldn't have any moral pbjections about stealing from people and darkspawn trying to kill you I would think. Hell, even spiders have on occasion had oultices for me to steal.  I imagine if I were playing a melee rogue I'd have had an even more obscene amount of cash.

I'm in need of a few extra talent points - the guide about the assassin build
I'm trying my hand at says nice things about locksmithing(deft hands etc)
but seems to have forgotten planning them into its skilling plan.

I don't see why you want to up deft hands with an assassin build since your cunning attribut will certainly be quickly very high and allow you to pick any locks and disarm any trap.
And in the mean time, you can use either Leliana or Zevran.

You'd better use your money on attribute tomes to give you more cunning.

On rogues I do, on warriors I don't tend to bother with the talent books. I'll have them all eventually.

I always buy the tomes that my Warden can use and sometimes I buy the others for my companions, but most of the time it is only my Warden that gets the extra points.

When I play as a mage I always let the demon keep Connor so my mage can get an extra tome.

Books are my main priority for the main PC.

And now I use the Improved atmosphere mod and practically drown in Gold....

My party is equipped with tier7 gear on Lv 9 and I have lots of gold left...

You don't even have to make a deal if you've enough ranks of Coercion, Simply intimidate the demon into leaving and giving you more power I think it was, and you'll get a Tome of Ethereal Suggestion.
