No antivirus. Just Windows Firewall and an occasional free virus scan for about 2 years now. I've never had any problems... guess I just know how to avoid viruses.

Plus, I think AV programs are a scam. You get updates for viruses that appeared a month ago. Yeah, that's gonna do you a lot of good.

Norton - I got the free trial with my new computer and I really like it.  I plan on buying it when the free trial expires.

Never pay for AV. Complete waste of time, as is Norton.

MSE is one of the better packages out there, and it's free.

Okay, thanks for the info.  :)  I didn't really want to spend the $59 that Norton was asking, but I didn't know there were some good free ones out there.  I'll try one of them first.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, and Zone Alarm, as well as Spybot and Ad aware for monthly scans or whenever I feel the need to run a scan manually, although I do have the option of going back to Norton through the Comcast package we have.

Avast free edition. I used to have Symantec from my school (I think they own Norton, or the other way around) but I found Avast is much more complete and less intrusive than SYmantec.

I run MSE. Been using it since the Beta period and love it (doesn't bog your system down much and isn't too annoying). I feel sorry for all the people who used "McAfee XP" (actually, I'm just being sarcastic).

Norton, because it is easy and I'm to computer ignorant/lazy to get anything else. Seriously I think at this point it's just force of habit that keeps me using it. Though it has managed to keep my computer safe.

Symantec corporate edition here.

If I were the only person who ever used this computer, I would not run any antivirus at all. But, my wife is amazingly good at infecting the computer with all sorts of garbage though myspace, facebook, and whatever other sites she frequents.

I use Kaspersky, but only let it run/scan when I am not at the machine. AV kills performance.

I use a hardware firewall. If you are browsing sites out of your comfort zone, then use Firefox with the NoScript extension.

Anyone who opens file attachments from unknown sources deserves all they get.
