I have those crashes and long loading times until about 11 days ago. The game has been running fine since.

My specs:
CPU: Intel Q6600 (stock speed)
RAM: Corsair 2GB C5 DHX (running at C4 timings)
MB: Asus P5B-Plus Vista Edition
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar SATA2 500GB
GFX: Asus 8800GT 512MB (stock speed)
DVD: LG GH20LS
Sound: onboard
PSU: Silverstone Strider 50F 500W

Here's what I did:

• Uninstall DA.
• Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. (Note: If you have any other games that uses this, they might have to be reinstalled. As far as I know, Bioshock 1 & 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 uses this).
• Install DX9 from DA disc.
• Install DA.
• Install 1.30 update. This update will also install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. Without the redistributable, the game will not run.
