I thought it might be an interesting idea to start a thread with the idea of basically imagining what the opening sequence of ME3 will be like. We all realize that there are many variables, so let's try to keep things as general as possible. ASSUME SHEPARD AND LOVE INTEREST ARE ALIVE.

I'll start:
Six months after the suicide mission and the war between humanity and the Collectors, Commander Shepard and two squad members are on an arbitrary mission to investigate an abandoned human colony, hoping to find any sign of any remaining Collectors. A signal is sent to Joker aboard the Normandy, requesting Shepard's immediate meeting with Captain Anderson on the Citadel. Shepard's mission is interrupted by Joker, who doesn't know anything other than that Shepard has to be on the Citadel within a few hours.

The Normandy flies to the Citadel, the scene goes right to Shepard's private meeting with Captain Anderson. Anderson mentions that the Illusive Man has a plan that involves the return of the Reapers in an unprecedented shape. Right before the conversation comes to an end, C-Sec announces immediate evacuation of the Citadel. Something has gone completely wrong in the blink of an eye. Without hesitation, Shepard takes Captain Anderson and his/her two squad mates and heads right back to the Normandy.

Joker, not aware of what's happening just yet, is surprised to see old friend Captain Anderson onboard the Normandy, and asks for an explanation as to he was bought onto the ship. Shepard doesn't have the time to explain; (s)he gives Joker the order to fly out into space before any serious harm is done to the Normandy.
Shepard takes the captain to his/her private cabin, still not knowing what happened on the Citadel. As the two step in the room, they are both shot down by one of the crew members who was anticipating them showing up. After that, they are immediately put into an escape pod and gone without anyone noticing what happened.

Few hours later, Shepard and Captain Anderson both wake up on an unidentified vessel. Locked in a room with only walls and windows around them. They try calling out for help, but nobody is answering. Shepard tries to look out the window for anything that might catch his/her attention, and all she/he saw was a brilliant starry background staring back at her/him. Captain Anderson suggests that Shepard contact Joker through a small, accessible terminal that was lying around in the same room. After several tries, Shepard fails to contact Joker. The Normandy isn't responding, neither is EDI.

At last, Shepard tries to contact his/her love interest. Despite the unclear signal, Shepard finally manages to receive a message from their love interest, which was "They're all around. You must find a way. Trust no one, no one! They're coming. They won't give up. They don't know how to give up! I hope you... I ..ugh... I lo... love... *signal gone*".

There you go. Notice that these are merely opening scenes, meaning things could change completely later on. So don't take them too seriously. We're just presenting fan-ideas after all. ^_^

I'm actually working on another idea of the opening scene right now, but haven't finished it yet. When I do, I'll either update this post or paste it in a new reply. Yes, you may show us more than one opening of yours!

Your turn. This thread can be real fun if you guys know your way around. Post your own personal idea of the opening scene. It can be anything; just make it believeable and suitable for the current sitting of the game.

i dont know, its good and all, but i think the story should be left to the devs, we should just give them tips in what we would like to see, i dont hate your story, just an opinion

Actually, I never meant for this to be something for the developers to consider. It's really just for fun. If I remember right, there was a very similar thread on the old Community forums; in which we presented ideas on how ME2 might start.

Anyway, it's all good. Thanks for coming by.

I think Mass Effect 3 is where some your most significant choices should impact the story.

Shepard and the crew of the Normandy SR2 have returned from the Omega Relay. They have saved or destroyed the collector base with an unknown number of casulties.

Upon arrival into the Omega Nebula, the ship must dock at the nearest civilized area, Omega for more resources and to repair the Normandy. Things seem to go as normal when the ship arrives. The crew rent a room to rest and recover. Shepard notes the number of casulties and important survivors account new plans to deal with the Reapers.

After a while, Shepard is playable and can walk around Omega and talk to some people.  Some of those people might be the sick bactarian from Mordin's recruitment or Mordin's old lab assistant if they survived or even the mad prophet. After talking to some people a cutscene is triggered where several explosions are heard.  Suddenly a Bactarian voice speaks over the loudspaker.

"Shepard. Aria requests to see you in Afterlife. This is not negotiable."

Two surviving crew (Jacob and miranda) or two random surviving charactors arrive and tell you that EDI has discovered through hacking or something that  the merc groups have joined forces to overthrow Aria and rule Omega themselves!

You only get two rooms toward Afterlife until a group of Mercs (blue suns) arrive.

Potential #1: If you kill Vido Santiago, the mercs immediatly open fire on your group.
Potential #2: The mercs ask you to join them. you refuse. You fight anyway.

After killing the mercs, you fight your way to Afterlife. You might meet some people along your way. The quarian on pilgramage is killed in the fighting if you do not pay his way out of Omega.:crying: If you save Mordin's lab assistant, he is able to send a group of mechs to help in the last fight at Afterlife's main entrence.

After the fighting you enter Afterlife and a cutscene is triggered. Aria is in her normal area with her guards. She is looking out toward Afterlife's main entrence.

Potential #1: You gave Aria the information about the mercs' plot against her. She is able to kill the main merc leader. Because of this your team joins forces with Aria to defend Afterlife from a merc assault. After the fighting, the mercs retreat. Aria becomes a potential ally in the fight against the Reapers and the Mercenaries are destroyed in Omega.  You are welcome to return to Omega for business.

Potential #2: You do not give the information to Aria and her main guard shoots her in the back of the head. You do not arrive in time and she is killed and you have to fight out of Omega. Omega is ruled by Mercenary groups including the blue suns and eclipse. You can not return to Omega as the Mercs are enemies of Shepard.

Regardless of your actions, you leave the Omega Nebula and you are contacted by Anderson. He is summoning you for a significant gathering of diplomats. Depending on various actions throughout the series, different factions will be present at the citadel . They have gathered to discuss the reaper threat and Shepard will be summoned to reveal the information regarding the reaper fleet. If Aria survives, she sends an envoy with you to represent Omega at that council.

I think that is a good opening sequence of events. After Omega, Shepard must go to various places to gather support against the Reaper fleet in order to fight back.

God, no!

Come on, guys! We need more "stories". Describe a cutscene of your own imgination that would fit as an opening scene in ME3. Simple enough.

I thin the opening scene should show a far away planet, with children of mixed alien nations playing together. An Asari school teacher calls them in for there next lesson, when a young Salarian points to the sky.

As they look up, a shadow casts over them with reflections of lightning in the sky, and then a Reaper ship sppearing into the frightened eyes of the Asari teacher. The sceen then pans out to a view of the entire planet and with a huge purge, the planet explodes.

Shepard wakes up in his cabin, holding his face in his hands as he knows whats to come. EDI announces the news over the Normandy intercom and Shepard and crew are asked to meet at the Citadel.

Good one; would definitely make an intriguing opening.

Shepard is being tortured by a powerful biotic named "Jo'Nathan Iran Ikus" who was exiled from humanity. He sees to drain Shepard of his powers and purpose and in doing so actually unleashes the Reaper form of the Commander. Battles ensue and the game becomes one of the greatest of all time.

The screen fades into a stary night sky over dark jungle canopy. a shooting star appears in the background. slowly the star splits off in two, one growing brighter as it takes a sharp turn and flies straight over the camera.

Your LI with Anderson an Joker push their way through the thick jungle brush, coming across a crater with a cargo container in the middle. the rush over to the charred figure in the mud a few yards past it. Your LI brushes away the ash from the face plate, revealing the motionless body to be Shep's.

[On second thought, this would have been great as part of ME2 opening... oh well.]

I am lazy:

Halo 1 opening. you customize shep as he leaves Cryo. your powers reset because of recently being injured [the reason for the cryo storage], you get a new Normandy after the old one crashes onto a ring world... err planet. perfect opportunity to kill off your entire squad and get a new one...

You may not like it, but it works :P

Shepard being caught by the Alliance or Council, could have a trial but Anderson shows up with his evidence to the council about TIM's reaperfication of Paul Grayson, along with other evidence about Harbinger, Shepard is under suspicion afterwards, but is tasked with uniting the civilizations of the galaxy against their greatest enemy.
