Which one would be most beneficial damage-wise. I tried both the Keening Blade and Veshialle and I ended up with about the same base damage, but I think the Veshialle wins by a couple of points because of nature damage that it has. I haven't tried Starfang yet so I'm not sure if that's better.

Im pretty sure Starfang is the best sword(s) you can get in origins, but it doesn't transfer over to Awakening so go with Keening or Veshialle, depending on your preference of sword or axe.

Does none of the dlc content transfer to awakenings? If so, that's freakin lame.

Ostagar and Stone Prisoner do, Wardens Keep does not

made for a funny moment at the start of Awakening when my mage (who had been dressed in Commander Plate) walked up to the keep ass naked...

It's really, really difficult to simplify stuff like this down,  because  there's so many things that contribute to the damage a weapon does.

For example, Veshialle  adds +2 nature damage, yes,  but at the same time, its base damage is only 9.60.  That's a total of 11.60 pure damage.  By contrast,  Keening Blade's base damage is already  11.20, and it also  adds +3 cold damage,  for a total of  14.20 pure damage.   But that's  where the  straight forward simplicity ends.   Veshialle adds +2 to your strength, which means an extra point of damage.  And  it's a waraxe, which means your strength modifier is 1.10  (instead of  the 1.00 you get for longswords)   Depending on your character's build, THAT could be why you're seeing yourself do more damage with Vashaille than you are with keening blade.

But... there's another factor here.  Armor penetration.   Keening Blade's total armor penetration is 6.    that is  +2  more  damage than  what you'll be doing with Vashaille, who's armor penetration is only 4.

In the end, if you crunch all these numbers down, I'll think you'll find that Vashaille and Keening are pretty darn equal.

And if they are equal, then we've got to look at the other properties these weapons have to find a total damage winner.    In this case,  it's going to be  Vashaille....      Because of its higher critical hit chance  (6.60%) and its  critical damage bonus  ( +10%... which  keening and Starfang don't even have.)

"Snicker" Uh huh so did my Warden Queen. I was so excited to Awakenings that I forgot the Warden Commander armor does not transfer. So import everything in and well there is the Warden Queen of Ferelden buttnaked walking with Mhairi. I did find a pair of boots to put on and fought halfway through Vigils keep before deciding to stop and redo import again. Not so sure my Warden king hubby Alistair would have enjoyed my characters foray in private. Either he would be mortified or turned if he knew she was naked in fighting half the time and clad only in boots. Image IPB

But back to the question at hand. Me personally I took a liking to the keening blade  the best and I had that enchanted with darkspawn damage runes and physical resistance runes in Origins. Was breeze killing things with it in both games.

As a general rule Swords - One Hand and Two Hand beat Axes and Mauls until your strength is near 60. After that Axes and Mauls will win.

In the original, I used Starfang and Keening for tons and tons of damage.

I Awakening, I used Keening for a while with Duncan's longsword (Return to Ostagar DLC) and I think the final combe I used were te sword Wade forges (Vigilance? SWEEET weapon) and Duncan's longsword.

If the axe is the one you must purchase, I would say Keening blade for both games just based on cost. Plus, it seems Undead are Immune to nature dmg.

Or, you could be like Mike, and run Keening Blade in your main hand, and Vasheille or w/e in your off-hand... Pretty beastly weapons even into Awakening.. Until you get vigilance...lol

Required your playing that type of character of course.

I still would select Topsider or another "free" 3 Runeslotted weapon over that overpriced axe.

Starfang is cool, but I would pick the Keening blade for going into Awakening!

I would go with Vigilance and Duncan's Longsword (req Return to Ostagar DLC) because they are probably the highest Damage Per Second combo, but if you don't have Return to Ostagar the Keening Blade would be your next best bet.

What about Vigilance & Voice of Velvet? Thats what I switched to eventually..

.. Until I had Wade craft Vigilance I was using Keening Blade & The Veishielle.. Even if it is over-priced by 100 gold...  Just as good as the KB... And I hate the look of  the dragonbone weapons.. Dried-blood-red doesn't go well with me.

Either way, with Paragon and/or Intensify runes in any of thesethem, there outright nasty weapons..

All of the "legendary" equipment in Dragon age is retardedly overpriced.. unless you go to crafting poultices' you'll never affort half the gear in the game.. At wich point i just did the junk-selling glitch to save hours of my life.. Awakening isn't bad at all.. But seriously? 150 gold  for a single item when you probly only get 300 total without farming in the standard game? I explored the world 100% and finished 85% of the side-quests and I still didnt have that much gold.. and im one of those people who hoards everything they find and sells it.

EDIT: Vigilance & Starfang.. Now wouldn't that be nice?

You guys know that if you play on a PC, there's a mod that lets you import Warden's Keep stuff, right? My dwarf commoner warrior dual-wields Starfang and Maric's Blade, and everything imported fine after I got the mod. Before I got it, I had to replace Starfang with the Keening Blade. I don't much like the Veshialle, really. Far too overpriced when you can get comparable equipment absolutely free.

Besides, there's nothing cooler than duel-wielding Starfang (Lightning, Silverite, Paralyze runes) and Maric's Blade (Flame, Cold Iron, Dweomer runes).

Just commenting:

It's STILL stupid that you can't transfer the DLC like Starfang and Blood Dragon Armor. Absolutely NO reason why Bioware would have not allowed it.

It's not that they wouldn't allow it - Return to Ostagar and Stone Prisoner item transfer.
The older DLCs just have a bad data structure.
The problem is where the items are stored in Warden's Keep and the promotional DLCs: they are all in "module" and not in "core". So they work only in the module the Add-In is written for, and that is the Single Player Campaign.
And that's exactly what the 2 existing DLC transfer mods do, they copy all stuff from "module" to "core".
This way the items are available in other campaigns, e.g. Awakening also.
