I use the cooldown reducing visor on my assault sentinel only. That's because with the 12sec base cooldown, those 5% are at least noticable. On other classes though (soldier, vanguard, adept) I didn't really feel those 5%.

Other than that, I use melee shoulderpads and storm speed boots on any class I play, and that's also because those are the only armor upgrades I actually feel during gameplay. Others are cosmetic for me.

If you're a charge-o-holic like myself you will feel the 5%.

Didn't buy the pack, but I can see the archon visor being really handy on an assault sentinel, since it will reduce the tech armor recharge time by 0.6 seconds.

helmet: none
Chest: Shield Harness
Shoulder: Strenght booster pads
Arms: Heavy damping Gauntlets
Legs: Stimulator conduits

I SERIOUSLY hate the look of all other greaves aside for the N7 greaves (especially the life support webbing) so I picked the stimulator conduit simply because it looks good. Coupled with the other pieces makes my Shepard look larger than life, muscular and imposing.

as for color scheme my shepard is the tip of the spear of the his unit he is part of, he must look the part. And since ALL the loyalty outfits are based of some offshot ensamble of black/red/gold my shepard uses a black tint 1, and a gold tint 2 (looks awesome from behind). And with the armor pieces I use if I pick pattern #1 it actually looks like there is no pattern at all.

Who needs to look feminine? Shepard's a goddamn Marine.

But typically it's Visor, Shield Harness, Asymmetric Defense Layer, and the Stimulator Conduits. Play a highly mobile Vindicator/Viper Commando build, with the occasional Heightened AR alpha strike, lots of retraining powers for specific missions. Hit Horizon and the Cruiser in Cerberus Assault (so far, probably throw it on for the Reaper too), and swapped in the open helmet for Tuchanka as there was head-butting to be done.

Oh. And a monochrome pattern, white with black accents.

Holy crap! Thats exactly the build I used for one of my Shepards... of course this would be expected, since there's a finite amount of choices and lots of people will have the same builds as someone, but yeah, still awesome :D

I don't have a particular build, I generally like to pick the ones that are most practical or best-looking for each Shepard, but I do have some patterns developed:

Favored pieces:
Strength Boost Pads (the melee damage bonus is actually visible here, plus the shoulders look awesome and streamlined, which is a big thing for me)
Stabilization Gauntlets (have used for all but 2 of my Shepards. It is the most "neutral" gauntlet set IMO as far as cosmetics go. I hate the N7 stripe-on-one-arm thing and the Heavy Damping Gauntlets look impractical)

I never use: N7 Shoulders, N7 Gauntlets, N7 Chestplate (again I hate the one-arm stripe and the fact that even though its supposed to be new armor for Shepard when waking up from the coma, it looks used.)

Also, I know I can't get rid of it, but that damn N7 symbol is such an eyesore. I always made sure to switch armor as soon as I could on Eden Prime, and I hope in ME3, you have the option to replace the N7 symbol on the armor with something else.

I tend to play my modded Adept in a fashion similar to my ME1 Vanguard, and hence I prefer a mixture of weapon damage and defence.

My current setup -

Kuwashi Visor
Kestrel Torso Sheath
Kestrel Arm Sheathing
Kestrel Shoulder Guards
Stimulator Conduits

That amounts to:
+10% Headshot damage
+11% Barrier
+8% Weapon Damage
+30% Melee Damage
+10% Storm speed

I don't know equivalent English names for parts, so I'm presenting pictures. Like most of us, I change my setup depending of skills and part of the game. I don't fancy helmets or full armors like Collector's or Terminus, so I find those four combinations optimal for my Sentinel (I'm mostly aiming in +shields and/or power damage casually, and +shields/melee/hp, if I go "commando" style):

This is my fav atm, Kestrel has really nice looking parts, bulky, but I like armors that look like armors :)

For my Vanguard, I'm trying this set up...

Helmet: Archon visor
Chest: Kestrel torso sheath
Shoulders: Strength boost pad
Arms: Kestrel arms sheathing
Legs: Kestrel power pack

Which means:

 5% cooldowns
16% shields
 8% weapon damage
45% melee damage
 5% heavy weapon ammo capacity

Sentry Interface (coolest headgear in the dark, and able to see the face too)
Strength boost pads/assymetric defence layer (Melee damage/ just for looks)
Shield harness (Best chest piece imo, for looks and shields)
Stab. Gauntlets/ Heavy Damping Gauntlets ( For damage/ for shields and looks)
Simulator Conduits ( Almost purely for looks, but I like to be fast most of the times)

Done both aesthetically and for benefits.

Anyway don't want Kestrel armor because of overkill (just like reave) for my vanguard. Unless you're struggling with ME2, then I think you should use Kestrel.
