OK, so I'm going way back into ME1 to do a playthrough where I have no LI in any game (for apparently none of my Shepards can help themselves when it comes to fraternisation), and my question is this:

If I were to follow the romance convo line with Kaiden, then kill him at Virmire, would my Shep have any feelings for him? Or is abstanance the only way to be sure?

I know just not romancing him would be easier, but I've never killed the LI at Virmire before and I kind of want a playthrough with that in it too, so I was thinking 2 birds, 1 stone.

That would count as no romance...

There seem to be two ways to guarantee bringing in a single shepard into ME2.



1.) Be a total ***hole the whole game to both Ash/Kaiden and Liara. Which means, always use renegade conversation options with them.



2.) Pick Ash/Kaiden over Liara and then kill that person at Virmire.



I can confirm option 2. I did it a few days ago. Wanted a single Shepard for ME2. Went back to my Virmire save and killed Ash. Went into ME2 and there is no picture on the desk. (the picture is the sign of whether you have a ME1 romance in ME2 or not.)

Yeah, but that's kind of sad and boring. Better to just not hit the "you're cute" responses, so you can keep talking to them without a romance.

Anyways, yeah, if you blow them up, then you're single in MS2. Though I do wish there was a picture, since, if Shepard really did love him/her, then I'd expect maybe a photo to remember them by. Or maybe have people say "I heard you sent you're lover to die... that's very sad." But, nope, nothing.<_<

A cat. Lonely Sheps should be given a cat. Or a stamp collection.
 
Also, thanks for the responses, but I just wanted to know if I could romance and kill Kaiden while remaining 'single'. Apparently yes so...sucks to be him.

Mostly I just want to see if there is a different reaction. I want a Shep with only one LI in ME3, and I want said LI to be Garrus. I also would probablty like an LIless Shep for ME3 as well. 2 birds, one stone! (Plus, when FemShepping, I usually send Kaiden with the team, Ash with the bomb. Then I feel bad for letting Ash blow up because really, protecting the bomb should be the tactical priority. But I always go back for Kaiden, so now she's playing to her sense of honor, for a change. )

In ME1, at least, you have the option to tell either love interest to keep it professional. They don't open up as much, but they won't count as a romance either.
