Aw man, I wish I was going to the beach this weekend! I may not be on tonight so I will catch you next week. I haven't played too much yet, but I began experimenting with Ibuki a bit. I never really played 3S but I like her so far. Ryu is my main going back to SF2, but I want to also find new characters to play with. I'll have to give Dudley a shot as well.

I may have to give in and buy a better stick. Just can't decide between the old and new TE, or Hori sticks. Don't really know much about 'em.

Get the TE. It is a damn fine piece of work. Just a step up from the typical Hori stick. if I had some spare cash I would get one :P. Nice responsive buttons, slick layout, it is awesome.

I bought a Hori EX2 about a year ago when Blazblue came out, but I dunno, I'm so used to the controller now it's tough for me to change haha. Now I'm just sort of modding it for the sake of it, more just like an art project than for actual use. :P

If you like the pad, MadCatz makes a killer fight pad. Gamestop has a **** ton of them for the 360. I just find the normal PS2/3 and 360 pad to be not to my taste.

The 360 controller is okay for me, but my main problem is that I struggle with some combos and even ultras. Part of it is just lack of practice but I would think an arcade stick might help a little too. Would you recommend the new "S" TE or the original TE? From what I hear, there seems to be no significant difference. Just trying to find the best deal to see if I can justify spending the cash on it. :P

I got two of these when SFIV was released on PC. One I bought and another as a birthday gift. Both with Chun-li on it. (Yes, I main her. :P) Anyway, I find they're "okay" but the honor of best game pad ever remains with the newer Sega Saturn pads. The ones that were standard issue in Japan. Mad Catz's pad are similarly shaped but bulkier. The buttons are very responsive, however. What I don't like about it is its directional pad. It feels a little 'floaty'. I prefer pads with less of a plastic base and directionals that feel individual.

Still, compared to a stock pad I also recommend it. A stick is better, but definitely buy one of these if money is an issue, of if there is no good spot to rest a stick while playing. They work pretty well for other games too. Come to think of it, I should try Jade Empire PC with it.

Well unfortunately the Saturn pads are only for the Sega Saturn :P, but I do agree with you on the whole "best pad goes to them" thing. Never really got a hold on how to play Chun, charge characters are just somethign I have a hard time with. Besides, SSF4 has my fav SF characters (Sagat, Ibuki, Makoto, Dudley) so I already have my hands full trying to choose a main.

As for which TE MasterSword, I think the difference is just cosmetic. The SF4 one may be a bit cheaper though, as it isn't brand new.

I got very good with Chun-li in Street Fighter 2 and played passably with Guile largely in part because charge moves were all I could perform back then. I eventually learned how to do other motions, but I never learned to excel with anyone else the way I did those two and Vega.

I was vicious with Charlie in the Alpha series, and could do some real damage with him. Whereas I'd usually lose taking one of the more conventional characters. I think Street Fighter III was the first game that wasn't the case. At least until 3rd Strike reintroduced Chun-li. >.< (I wasn't thrilled with Remy.)

Yes, you're right about the controller. I just meant that it's not the most comfortable pad, I guess. To hear some people during SFIV's release, it's the best pad ever made. :P I find them adequate, but playing on them wears my down faster than I like. They just aren't very comfortable.

Bleh almost got it today, desided to get Tekken 6 instead, but saw a ad while watching Ironman 2 to rub it in, in cinema.

I wish that SSF4 had a gallery/theater mode, nonetheless my Gamertag is Ulyaoth Ev.

As far as the controller's go, I'm REALLY interested in this thing. It looks amazing, and it's getting some pretty positive things said about it. We'll see though. Right now I sort of have to switch between the joystick and d-pad to pull off some of the moves, but it's slowly starting to feel more natural.

Yeah, I agree. And the replay channel is kinda iffy. Very difficult to find a good fight, it's just setup so weird. Definitely an area where they should've copied Blazblue. Anyway I'll be sending ya a friend request soon. ;)

Picked this up at midnight release.  XBL gt: apatDALAWAMPU

Kordras, do you play with a regular 360 pad or the special fightpad?  I've been trying to learn this game on the 360 pad, but execution on my moves is very inconsistent.  I use the the left analog stick for digital inputs because on the d-pad I make too many accidental jumps (more than on the analog stick).

When the tournament mode dlc comes we should all do a social.bioware tournament...

For American social.bioware community members only, except those living in the states of NY and FL.  :P

Sweet, we're slowly building up a good number of players. :D Yeah, I'm just playing with the standard 360 controller right now. Usually I use the left stick over the d-pad, though sometimes I switch around. Quarter circles seem to be easier to pull off with it, but half rotations and full circles need a joystick IMO.
Noticed a few of us have Blazblue gamerpics too... we may have to play that some as well.

I only rented Blazblue, but I loved it.  Was going to buy it, but then heard about Continuum Shift in July.  That's going to be a midnight buy for me.

My internet is unreliable when it comes to Xbox Live, so I tend to lag a lot. At least I did in SF4, haven't given Super a try yet online. it won't be pretty. I love me some Dudley/Ibuki, but I suck with them lol ; .;.

Skar, if you wanna try it just to see if/how well your connection works out, let me know or just send me a friend request on Xbox live. It would be fun to fight another Ibuki, I'm trying to learn how to use her.

I haven't been playing much yet, as I'm also just getting started on a little game called Mass Effect 2, but I plan on mixing in some more SSF4. Have any of you guys gotten to play each other yet?

I'm xbl friends with Kordras, but we haven't fought yet. He's pretty intimidating being ~ 50,000 ranks higher than me.

Haha, I wish I were as good as that implied. :P Really I've only done semi-well with Blanka so far heh. Anyway a few of us are on now if anyone else wants to hop on. :D

Edit: Also, I am getting destroyed. XD The dude who joined, Ice Pikachu, is a friend from High School I've never ever been able to beat. :P

You guys have all shown up as yellow for me, but I haven't seen any noticeable lag or anything. I think we're good.

That was alot of fun guys.  I'm really excited for online tournament mode dlc.  Although we all know it's going to be a battle for 2nd place since Kord will probably play too.

Was really happy to pull off an Ibuki vortex even though I didn't do much with it.

edit - moved edit to next post.
