I heard that in the Fallout universe, Las Vegas was not struck by a nuclear attack during the nuclear war and thus the city remains in tact.
I can't tell from these screen shots but I don't think New Vegas is going to be quite as post-apocalyptic as Fallout 3.

Game looks good.  2010 is going to be a good year for Obsidian.

Yeah, I'll be interested to see the direction they take the game in. While I don't really understand the Fallout chronology, it feels like FO3 took place in a world that had a 50s sort of vibe and in the 50s, Vegas wasn't nearly the spectacle it is today. Because they were less effected by the nuclear war, are we going to see them having had built up some of that classic Vegas charm, or will they take it in a completely different direction and develop it into a fundamentalist Mormon compound with three-headed donkeys and gatling gun-wielding sheep people? We shall see.

The Fallout world takes the idea that the world developed under the premise of the 50's technology.  It's an alternate history world with the goofy technology or imagined technology of the 50's.  It's basically saying that the world developed under the premise of the 50's technology or something along those lines.

Someone correct me on this but it's the general idea.

*If you look at the Fallout world from a cultural perspective it could be said that the Fallout World is a 'Square' world as compared to the counterculture movement of the sixties which denounced the ideals of the 50's.(run on sentence much)  Then again you could consider Fallout a satire with counterculture themes that poke fun at the 50's way of life.  However you look at it, I think the world of Fallout makes for an interesting discussion.

It's built on the wacky futurisms that 1950s imagined, not the 50s themselves and not so much as a what-if scenario.

Fallout: New Vegas makes use of retro-futurism which is an atmospheric style that the devs use.

That is all.

Pretty good video with Chris Avellone talking a bit about the game. Also showing off some new footage.

Squee!!!

I was hoping for more Alaska, as the desert landscape is kind of depressing, but maybe we'll get to see some other places. Definitely looking forward to this. I am most excited about what I heard about the followers, that there is more dialogue with them and personal quests etc.

I have not been as excited for a game in a long time.

It is killing me that I have the game preloaded on my steam but I still can't play it /cry.

Can we possibly keep to one thread? This one's been pretty active recently. It's much easier for all involved.
