I mean i can understand brand loyalties but seriously when games are successful like this i think the more people they can reach the better.More money=more expansions, download content, and better games from the companies. Why is there so much hatred whenever a playstation 3 owner asks for Mass Effect.I have ps3 and pc so its not a big deal really.I think it would be great though to have some game from the Mass Effect world appear on PS3 whether it be ME2 or ME3 even or another game all together(maybe an ME FPS)

I guess people will hate this idea if for no other reason due to brand/console loyalty but who knows....

The only reason that ME seems to not be appearing on another console is because they may have an agreement with Microsoft. But saying that Mass Effect "SHOULD NOT" appear on PS3? Anyone who says that is a complete tool. If they say it "Won't" appear? Then that is fine, it makes sense.

I think some people are concerned that working on a PS3 version for the third game in a trilogy that doesn't have the former two parts on the platform is a waste of time and resources that could be better spent getting the game out faster as well as making it as good as possible for the current platforms. As it stands, ME3 being on the PS3 without the other two doesn't make sense given the way the games are structured. If somebody did ports of the former two it wouldn't be as much of a problem, but I doubt that'll happen before ME3 is out. So I don't think this is a platform war where gamers are concerned so much as the fact they don't want a third version getting in the way of the development of the final part.

Pretty much that. I have no problems with bringing ME3 over to the PS3, as long as it's a quality port and they bring the previous two games to the PS3, because otherwise, it'd be really stupid to only port the last game of a trilogy to the PS3.
And not 'the entire trilogy on one disc' because that's obviously friggin' retarded and they presume Blu-Rays have infinite storage capacity.

They could probably get away with ME1 and ME2 on one Blu-Ray and ME3 on another.

Doesn't a Blu-Ray have 50gbs of space? Because the first two ME games would take up roughly half of that, leaving more than enough space for 3.

...is it wrong of me to hope ME3 occupies about as much space as MGS4?

Not gonna happen, and you can blame the xbox for that. Imagine the uproar if they'll have to swap disks 6 times.

I am for spreading the love on all consoles. Sadly, this doesn't happen.

What? From the PS3 fans laughing at the filthy 360 peons who have to swap disks every twelve hours? Or the 360 fanboys who will boast about this because everything about the 360 is awesome and great?

And then there's me, who just loves disk swapping regardless.

There were a few threads complaining about the fact that you had to swap disks. Though, honestly, I'd like it to be on 6 disks (just imagine how nice and shiny the box for that will be), even though I'd have to clear most of my harddrive to install such a game.

People are against it because ME is one of the best M$ exclusives (360&PC) and thay want to keep it exclusive, it's like when PS3 users where whining about FFXIII coming out for the 360.

I personally don't care, but I don't think it will be released on PS3 because of two reasons:

1. They also need to port ME1 & 2 to PS3

2. M$ propably still owes ME1 rights, if not all of them atleast alittle

But if Bioware is going to release more games in the ME universe and if they're not related to Shephard there's a big chance that they will release it on the PS3.

It all will boil down to how bad EA wants it i think. If they push for it i highly doubt Microsoft will risk pissing them off with titles like Madden and other profitable sports games in jeopardy. Then again i doubt EA would risk losing that platform over one game so who knows.I guess in the end we will all see. What will probably happen is some FPS game based on the ME world.I would not be against this as im a fan of fps as much as i am of rpg.games.Who knows...Time will tell..

I agree. BioWare would have no problem porting Mass Effect 2 over to the PS3 (they ported Dragon Age from the PC to both consoles). However, Microsoft might have a problem with porting Mass Effect 1 over, considering they published it.

In fact, they still advertise Mass Effect 1 as "delivered exclusively to the Xbox 360™".

While I have no problem with ME going over to the PS3 (providing we meet the criteria stated earlier in the thread), this question could easily be turned around the other way. Why are people against Heavy Rain, God of War III, etc. going to the X-Box?

If we are going to start questioning why people are against one game going to the other side, it should be expanded to all games (at least 3rd party games)?

Having said that, there are some reasons for being against a 3rd party game going to the other side that are not "fanboy" reasons:

1. Each console does different things better than the other. This can lead to some games not being as good on one console as the other.

2. Because the architecture of each console is very differently, trying to release a game to both consoles has the possibility of delaying release dates by a large margin in some cases.

3. Staying with the architecture and each console doing certain things better than the other, this can lead to having to create the game in a way that serves the least common denominator of each.

This is not to say that any of this would occur with ME going to the PS3, but it is possible.

As a final note, though, the console wars this generation have been very tight (not counting the Wii), and the consoles live or die by their exclusives. It is not surprising to see some big name titles being exclusive and the consoles and their fanboys fighting tooth and nail to keep them that way.

Just my $.02

Smart people will buy the game for PC anyway.  Console gaming is pain, and it makes my brain leak green fluid when I attempt to think about it.  All those low resolutions, low framerates, imprecise controllers, additional fees, proprietary everything... eesh.

Because having exclusive games helps sell consoles.

People will support their favourite platform, so be against exclusive games.

Besides if all games were made for all platforms, why have three different platforms? Sony loses millions, or Microsoft loses millions, or PC Gaming dies.

I just wish they would hurry up and all merge together so everyone could play every game.

I think that some exclusive titles for each console are a good thing. When it's just the tech and the prize that determines a console's attractivity to the customer we would have a monopole for Sony or Microsoft rather quick. And then we reach the point were the tech develops slower and the prices remain high.

PS 3 sucks so bad that Sony doesn't deserve to get Biowares goodies.  It would be a great insult to see Mass Effect on a PS 3, I wil not stand for it!

Image IPBHere's a little song...Image IPB

*sings, mostly in key*

"Step one, you make your console cost the most,
You beat your chest and proudly boast,
despite no good and exquisite games,
make a bunch of ridiculous claims,

Then ignore our need to play online,
don't make it fun like XBox Live,
Use Blu Ray which I don't need,
Now your getting your **** kicked by the Wii,

Said Halo 3 don't worry you,
Instead you offer Kill Zone 2,
But Kill ZOne 1, sucked before,
So what made you think we wanted more?

Sony you went wrong with your PS 3,
I'll just keep playing my 360,
hope this song has helped you understand,
Now you know how you killed your brand,

*takes a bow*
