No offence, but if they made it for PS3 we would have a whole range of issues ( getting a game working on 3 platforms is NOT easy ).

This is a good question.  More people should ask it of themselves.  Why am I against (insert topic here)?

In the case of Mass Effect, I don't mind if it includes PS3 in its playable platforms.  The more the merrier I say.  If it opens the market up to more people that can only mean more money for EA/Bioware and that means more games.  Will it happen?  I doubt it.  At least, not anytime soon.  For it to make any sense, all three games would have to be available on PS3, and to do that, they would have to release them all simultaneously.  I could see them coming out with a collector's pack with all three included well after ME3 is out, and PS3 being one of the platforms.

From what I've heard and read, porting a game from 360 to PS3 and vice-versa is actually pretty easy.  It's once you start trying to port games to PC or Wii that you run into serious work.  PS3 and 360 are more similar than any two other platforms out there, making porting between them comparitively easy.

Honestly, I can only shake my head at some of the ridiculous biases out there.  There are people who play games on only ONE platform, not because it's practical, but because, "evrythng else sux, lol."  There are people who don't understand that sometimes certain platforms ARE better than others with specific games.  I personally own ME and ME2 on 360, and I hear all kinds of talk on these forums about how much better the PC version is, or people assume that the PC version is the only version people have.  As far as I can tell, the only thing the PC version is better at is being able to install mods, everything else is equal.  Some people don't have the money for a cutting edge gaming computer, some people like playing shooters on a console where shooting feels more natural (guilty), and some people are console snobs who find little reasons not to like games simply because they aren't available on their console of choice.

Personally, which platform I game on depends largely on what kind of game it is.  Strategy games are all PC for me, shooters are all 360, and RPGs can go either way.  I'd also like to remind people that Mass Effect was originally a 360 only game, the PC version didn't come out for months afterward.  Just my opinion.

Mate I have to say this post was a pleasure to read,  no fanboy-isms one way or another just pure facts and well balanced objective opinions, I really wish more people kept a mind as open as yours on the topic, I admire your perspective :D

Then I suggest you read a bit more. PS3 has a significantly different architecture to all the other platforms. In fact it's actually PC and 360 that are more similar than anything (hardly surprising, given M$'s involvement in both). Porting a game from PC/360 to PS3 is a total ball-ache, and something which ultimately carries with it a substantial dollar figure that I'm guessing Bioware are simply not willing to pay.

Ultimately, it is a shame, as multi-platform games are the future irrespective of whether people want it to be or not. You can thank Sony for doing another 'we-are-so-awesome-everyone-will-do-what-we-do' fiasco like they did with Minidisks for this.

Not gonna happen, and you can blame the xbox for that. Imagine the uproar if they'll have to swap disks 6 times.

Or they could take the Dragon Age route... without the bugginess. LEss content for consoles, more for PC.

It happened with bioshock and hell with bluray disc's they could put the first 2 games together in a package. Although it would be more expensive than an average game:mellow:

I mean i can understand brand loyalties but seriously when games are successful like this i think the more people they can reach the better.More money=more expansions, download content, and better games from the companies. Why is there so much hatred whenever a playstation 3 owner asks for Mass Effect.I have ps3 and pc so its not a big deal really.I think it would be great though to have some game from the Mass Effect world appear on PS3 whether it be ME2 or ME3 even or another game all together(maybe an ME FPS)

I guess people will hate this idea if for no other reason due to brand/console loyalty but who knows....

First off, I'm totally against the PS3.  Just like the PS2, sony delivered a lot less than they promised.  However, This game should go to the PS3.  It is that good, and since it's not the property of M$, then I say do it.  I'd like to see this gem experienced by as many gamers as possible, even PS3 owners!

Don't worry guys, the Mass Effect Sigma series will be on the PS4 after 4 years after the release of ME3 for 360/pc. This will bring a bunch of money for Bioware and the Mass Effect Sigma version will be better than the original which all Mass Effect fans should be excited about if they're true fans because if they are they'd want to see Bioware do well as well as seeing the game do well.

I know for sure that those who own ME1-3 for 360 will buy it for PS3 or 4 because we all know the graphics will become better since all games do as time goes on. Also since MS published the games or whatever Bioware could change things to make it different enough so then it could go to another console just like Ninja Gaiden Sigma did

This sounds like something you'd hear in an Ed Wood movie.

I have no problems with the PS3 itself, I have a problem with Sony's marketing and executive board. They can't seem to open there mouths without sounding smug, talking down to people, starting wrong information, throwing mud, or expecting people to to accept that there way is the only way.

It's not the system, it's the people behind it. They are doing better now but they still tend to stick there foot in there mouths when they open up.

Frankly I don't like that it's on consoles at all. No, not because I would want to keep console people away from games. Nope. I don't like it because the quality of the PC game simply suffers because of it. All that "porting" from platform to platform and you end up with fuzzy Garrus' face, splotchy details all around you, blurry lines like they're drawn by a drunkard.. Awful. Damn porting. They should make these games first for PC with good quality and later send it out to those consoles with whatever looks. Sucks when PC product quality gets pulled so down because of other platforms and because the developers can't bother make a normal quality stuff separately for PC. Heck, make PC special texture packs or at very least allow the game to be modded in that area, so that the community creators could do it. If they'd fix the graphics quality on PC's then go ahead, port it wherever you want, no matter which console, port it onto the alarm clocks if you want.

There's nothing eltist about doling out 3 or 4 grand for a gaming rig like that. Thats DEVOTION.:wizard:

And if you can afford it, all the better. Personally, I'd own one of every console and a pc were I rich. Sadly, thats not the case, so I had to be practical and buy a machine that does it all.

I own both a PS3 and a 360 and the only reason that I think is legit is: Generally, the rule of thumb in choosing which is the the best console for buy a non exclusive game is the xbox 360. I always hear this every single time. There seems to be an issue with developers having a harder time using a Blu-ray disc which leads to an inferior game on the PS3. That's why all of my ps3 games are exclusives.

Personally, I could care less if they finally released all ME games on the Ps3. I just won't buy it.

I wouldn't get it anyway because of all the time spent on my 360. There's little point in bringing over just ME3 when the games connect to each other in literally hundreds of ways.

If they do it - fine, but I also don't want them using up the time to port it when ME3 could come out quicker - or worse, leaving the porting to another company who might do a ****ty job.

If they release all 3 on the PS3 eventually that's cool, but I still wouldn't get it even though I play my PS3 most of the time.

I personally have no issue with the ME series being ported to the PS3. I know I was personally ecstatic when Bioware announced they were porting ME1 (then an Xbox-exclusive) to the PC, so it would be hypocritical of me to deny the same opportunity to fans of other platforms.

If EA/Bioware thinks the time/money spent porting the ME series to another platform will pay off, and it won't impact the development of DLC or ME3, then I say go for it.

I'm not against it. Our PS3 bretheren should have an opportunity to experience the unique storytelling glory that is Mass Effect and its sequel.

I don't think it will because before Microsoft dropped Mass Effect, them and Bioware had a contract stating that Mass Effect, all of em, will not go to PS3.

With all due respect, you're an ignoramus.

The PS3 Defense Force used the same battlecry when FFXIII turned out to suck. They said that Square Enix had to "dumb down the game" just so the X360 could handle it. As a result, the PS3 version suffered as well.

Uh. No it didn't. The way developers work, they make the game in its intended maximum resolution first and they begin compression as needed later on. Developers have some insanely powerful rigs to play around with, rigs that probably outrank all but the most top-of-the-line home systems right now. If the textures look like they do on the PC, chances are that's what was intended for the release.

There is also a strategy to compressing the game below flawless. The more compatible the game is with the general gamer's PC, the more people that will buy it. There's a marketing logic to it, too, you know.

Either way, the game was probably going to be the same even if it had only been released on the PC. If games REALLY have to be downgraded, it will be done so for each respective console. As evidence, I present any of the Splinter Cell games for the last generation of consoles: the areas in the PS2 and GameCube versions were vastly different from the Xbox versions.
