Amazingly, all of the remaining CTD and memory leak issues I had left after 1.03 went way with the latest nVIDIA driver update and the .NET Framework update.
I've had some crashes, not too many, but numerous and often enough to make trying the .NET thing worthwhile. And it worked. No crashes since the move to .NET 4. Can't say for sure on memory leaks being eliminated, but if there are any left, they're definitely eating memory at a much slower rate than before.

Which means I'll just have to wait for a patch, if it comes. (I hope there'll be a user-made patch long before the official one)
Or Dragon age 2.
Or the next expansion.

Even if one is made, it'd be unlikely to fix CTDs and the like. All indications are that these are caused by low-level stuff in the engine, and you can't alter that sort of thing with the toolset. Hell, you can't even change a lot of the keybindings with it, as many of them are just arbitrarily hardcoded. You could probably work around many of the crashes by disabling a lot of the glitzier effects of spells and grenades and the like, but that's not really fixing anything. Another problem is that there's no Awakening source, which makes tracking down scripting bugs a serious pain in the ass, at best. Also doesn't make actually fixing said bugs particularly easy either.

Add my name to the list of people who have stopped playing Awakening until Bioware fixes their bugs. I don't think I have ever played a bioware game where the bugs were this obvious and plentiful.
I've bought them all (so far, not likely anymore), and while one or two had some bad bugs (including more than one potential show-stopper), I've not often seen a) something this buggy that

The story bugs and broken stealing are fixed in unofficial mods and the creators have told Bioware how to fix it.
And to fix the crashing issue they could easy remove the changes in 1.03. That would bring back the slower loadingscreens, but the game would work again. This would fix the broken stealing also.
If the devs cared this would be fixed in a day or two. Now we are close to two months with a broken game, and half a year with silly storybugs,
I think it is shocking that they have no pride over this big prodject. If I were creator of this game I would not been able to stop working before the gamebreaking bugs were gone.
And if they only think about $... They will lose tons of customers with this poor support.

Does anyone know how to get into the coding for Awakenings? I can't seem to load it onto the DA Toolset, so I can't even look at the code for things like scripts not firing...

That's because the source isn't publically available. Only that for plain Origins is. It's possible to fiddle with some stuff (mostly seems to be restricted to ripping textures and suchlike), but not the scripts because all you can extract from the ERFs is the compiled form of any given script. I've even tried to edit a couple placeables directly (to put the full Blackblade set into the game, rather than rely on annoying random drops), and the toolset refuses to save them. Or rather, it tries, then crashes, leaving empty files with a '$$$' extension in its wake.

does any one have any idea , if their is any other release after the awakening ? I might have a few theories of what the next one will be .
Well, they said they'd be putting out DAO DLC for 2 years after release. It's been 6 months, so I'm gonna say: yes, they will release something after Awakening.
