I can't really remember from the game, but are there audio files exclusively for the cutscenes? Not ingame music, but like a violin stab or other sound effects that create tension?  Where can I find these in that case?

Here's an example, listen to the sounds in the background. The link should start at 1m24s

I found this: http://fxhome.com/sounds/ see orchestral phrases.

How do you use the sound that comes with the game? Whenever I add a sound to a cutscene it just appears as a thin line I can't drag (along the timeline) or do anything with.

I can seem to use anything other than non-music. Which is a shame, since it's music I'm looking for. Is there some secret trick to this? Every other audio file works fine. They just appear with no duration (thin bars)

I just tried to put a music file in a cutscene and I get the same problem, it just never plays (and its one tiny bar instead of the length of the file).

Only happens for music... sounds and ambiant sound files play correctly.

Bump... has anyone been able to trigger music and stingers tracks in cutscenes successfully?

I checked out the single player cutscenes and the music there actually works (and appears as more than just a small bar on the timeline), but they are also not the tracks contained in /music. The single player cutscenes use single player music resources, not core resources.

I set my module to have Single Player in its hierarchy and now I can use the Single Player music successfully, but the majority of the tracks have sound events inside them (like footsteps, people dying, cheering, etc) which makes them a bit hard to use.

The only solution I can think of would be ripping the desired .wav from the music .FSB using DA Extractor and making it a custom sound through FMOD but that sounds like a giant pain in the ass :(

Well nevermind its actually fairly simple :x

http://social.biowar...ic_to_cutscenes

Follow the tutorial named Another Way at the bottom of the screenshots.

You'll need DA Extractor which you can get here http://aezay.dk/drag...tor09.11.28.rar

Sorry for the quadruple post! :P

So this means you must extract the official music then add it again? Doesn't this mean you will have duplicates?

Mine still showed up as a line. Did you do anything that wasn't explained in the tutorial?

You won't technically have duplicates, since the music files found in the music .fsb are the raw music tracks, while the 'cutscene' music in the toolset's Single Player module is the raw music tracks + sound effects added on top (such as crowds cheering, footsteps, etc)

The way I got it to work:

1) With DA Extractor (linked above) open music_bank_strm_new.fsb, located in C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\audio\\\\sound.
2) Extract the .wav you want. You can do this by double clicking it in DA Extractor, which will open it and copy it to a /Dumps folder in the same directory you installed DA Extractor in.
3) Follow the tutorial I linked above (specifically the 'Another Way' part) to add that extracted .wav as a new music file
4) In the toolset you should now see that file in the Sounds list. Add it to your cutscene and it will appear correctly as a music track instead of a small bar.

Let me know if that works.

For some reason it worked this time. I'm not sure what I did different.
So for every sound/music you create an event then assign a sound and all that which is explained in the tutorial?

Pretty much.

You shouldn't have to do it for anything else than music though. Sound effects work fine in cutscenes.
