Why not? Game companies splinter and reform all the time. Maybe in another five years Respawn Entertainment will end up coming out with better games than Infinity Ward.

Respawn is a slightly jovial name, yes.
It's certainly not the end for CoD, though. Maybe in a few years, but Treyarch are still around.

I laugh at Actifail so much. I seriously laugh. What is that? Every design lead? All the lead writers? Hah Even the casual gamers will jump ship because even they know IW was the superior developer (case in point, everyone going 'oh man, IW's making MW2' and going 'oh man, Treyarch is making CoD). Once the next CoD comes out (and there's four planned in the next three years) and ends up awful, Respawn will just tout their new game 'from the makers of Modern Warfare 2' and boom. Instnat millions. Serves Activision right, regardless.

Activision f***ed up bad. Respawn already has most of the higher ups that worked on MW2 so they've already got the talent to make great games. Activision made stupid decisions during the production of MW2 (such as not doing a public beta) that ended up hurting the quality of the game in the long run (not that sales weren't exceptional regardless). Hopefully the guys at Repawn will benefit greatly from the EA parteners program and continue to put out triple A titles.

This is what happen when instead of expanding at your height, you contract to make more money. It could get really bad for them. Watch though, it ends up making Activision $$$. Damn game industry.
