When did the feminist movement invade these forums? Image IPB

Well the OP has some valid points here. Definitely something for men to think about.

But I want to remind the OP that there's nothing really wrong with admiring beautiful women. Surely running into battle without armor is ridiculous, but even as a gay man I'd much rather the women on my team be graceful and aesthetically comfortable to look at.

It'd be unhealthy if women are being viewed as nothing but v@ginas on legs. But that's not the case here. People like Miranda, Jack and Morinth are colorful personalities that can give any man a run for their money. And there's hardly anything male-centric in that.

And the reason why men aren't subject to the same treatment is because the majority of men are just gross anyways. There I said it as a man who likes men. And if the a gay man isn't overtly offended by this, there's no reason why a feminist should.

At the end of the day it was the fanboys who objectify women, not Bioware.

4. In regards to Jacob, the female Shepard had to be more aggressive, because Jacob turns her down. Perhaps the OP has never met a sexually aggressive woman. I have. This is the 21st century. The women I know go after what they want. It's liberating- it takes a lot of pressure off of us men.

Femsheps can't choose not to be sexually aggressive towards him. They can't talk to him like a normal person.

So, a sexually aggressive woman isn't normal?  That's a bit of a double standard isn't it?  I thought the whole "equality" between genders meant that whatever was normal for men to do (and if you think that men aren't sexually aggressive towards women, then you need to put the games down and go to a nightclub), was supposed to be considered normal for a woman to do.

Also, you can choose not to be sexually aggressive towards him.  It's called "Not choosing him as an LI."  You have lots of dialogue to choose from that doesn't have anything to do with sex.

Who moves like a man.

I don't suppose you have worked with women in the military or police on a regular basis?

You often develop patterns of locomotion and limb movement that are decidedly "unfeminine" due to certain types of training.  Humping a ruck and moving heavy objects around a lot WILL change the way you move. :P

Read up on what?  Before I got married, I was one of the jerks.  My little black book (I called it the "Chic-tionary" *see The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air*) was full.

Uh no. By normal I meant not interested in that way. You know, just Commander Shepard, normal. Don't split hairs.

When you first talk to him as femshep (the "I'm more interested in just talking for a bit" line), the line is delivered in a way to suggest she is interested in him even if that is not the intention of the player. It may be true that you can later not choose him as LI, but at first she comes across as sexually aggressive IMO and there's nothing you can do about it.

Title: Respect women and you'll get more sex

Please change the provocative thread title. You're making it sound like women barter or sell their sexuality in exchange for attention and that men are the knuckle-dragging consumers who only serve to take advantage of it.

I think the whole premise of the thread is offensive to both genders.

And the irony of the thread title:

"Want more sex from women?  Show them some respect."

Um...sure...

I see nothing wrong at all with women in the game wanting to dress sexy, even in a combat situation. In the days of personal shields and biotic barriers armor isn't necessary.

Well that's only how masculinists sees feminists. Not all feminists want exactly what men have, quite the opposite. They just want women to do exactly what they do and still be respected for who they are.

If women have to behave like men to earn men's respect, that's not feminism at all. Because your underlying assumption is still that masculine qualities are superior.

Bioware (don't want to put a specific dev or I'll get banned): We had a certain storyline from the beginning, we've had a certain view of Shepard that might not be your view of Shepard, despite the fact that Shepard is customizable. We all got our inspiration from such sources as BET. Besides, each of us are married, we definitely know how relationships and women work. Fan boys... I'm telling you.

Woah what a great post.  I couldn't agree more.  I really liked all the women in the game I thought they were treated with great respect despite their ridiculous non-armorness and high heels and so forth.

But the men in the Mass Effect universe are all Adonises with tight outfits also but nobody really seems to care that much.  Even the old guys like Udina have big shoulders and tiny waists and the whole deal.  I mean yeah it is probably regretfully true that most of us guys are probably gross but I wouldn't mind being one of the guys in Mass Effect.  If that is the future bring it forth.

Am I the only lady that doesn't have a problem with Femshep walking a bit manly? I actually think it makes things a tad more realistic, given her background. Yeah, maybe it's just the result of developer shortcuts, but when I imagine a life-long soldier, I certainly don't imagine her carrying herself with much feminine grace.

Yes, by the way they walk ;)

Again well said.  One of the things I like about Bioware's games is that the female characters are usually distinctly feminine in every respect but still great characters who are competent and worthy of respect.

In fact I find the OPs complaints pretty unfair really.  I mean yes the outfits and footwear were pretty over the top but that certainly in no way meant that ME2 was somehow disrespectful to women.
