It's not though. The OP is saying Bioware did it to make money not because they are prejudiced or malicious. Understandable but not admirable.

Accusing them of pandering because of greed isn't that much better, though.

And to do that, they completely screwed over women and homosexual gamers.

So, why mentioning the homosexuals at all?

I would like a more mature game. I would even pay more money for one, but my age group is in the minority and not where the sales are at.

Not to derail the thread but no, what you are describing is definitely not Turner's Syndrome. The phrase Turner's Girls exists for a reason- we are female. Just as female as any ordinary 46XX woman.

Back on topic: It is obvious that ME2 was written with male Shep in mind. The animations (especially absurd if you wear the little black dress from the Kasumi DLC) are one strong piece of evidence. The writing is another. Little things like the way Jacob says Miranda deserves a better man than him. Which could be taken as a compliment for a dudeShep romancing her, but is a serious dig to any femShep brave enough to tackle the Jacob romance. So he's not good enough for Miranda but he is for Shepard?

I agree

make better love interests for Femshep!

Make the women be like women! (The Miranda ass-shot was absurd)

I find Conrad Verner’s portrayal of males insulting!

Most of this isn’t about appealing to just the male demographic, tons of males play fem-sheps.

BW definitely wasn’t ignoring or trying to insult female players. ME2 just didn’t meet your standards. Everyone knows the faults, now provide some solutions.

Mass effect 2 is all about sales. Bioware has pulled all the stops, ignored all the minority groups, and created a game that will appeal to the undeniable heart of the gaming community: men who don't want to grow up.

And to do that, they completely screwed over women and homosexual gamers.
Can you really blame them for that? I think you can.
There is already a thread arguing for the latter. This thread is about the former.

Oh boo-hoo. Bioware is under no obligation to do anything except generate a profit.

All I can say is that of the games I've played BioWare at least tries to establish some kind of romance as best they can. Most other game companies either totally avoid it of just leap into the bedding action.

The stripper bit? That is part of the seedy side of Omega. You don't find the dregs of society having lattes on the presidium.

The clothes? Take a walk in a busy mall or at a university in the summer time. You will find all sorts of sexy outfits being worn.

I think you are being way way to hard on BioWare,

@Shandepared: I hear this a lot on this site: the ruthless free-market CEO motto. But its not true.

I don't think the devs who poured their heart into this game take such a view. Bioware isn't exactly located on wall street. I really do believe they enjoy delivering a quality title to their fans.

I really feel like that if Bioware had pleased the girl gamer community in regards to the LI issue (especially Jacob), that we wouldn't have near the complaint threads similar to this one.

They are going to have to do a lot in ME3 for me to buy into your thoughts concerning Bioware.  Although I tend to agree with some of the essence of what you are saying.

Male Shepard walks like a ****** too.

He looks kinda retarded when he is running around on the normandy actully, me and my friend had quiet some laughs about it.

FemShep looks better running in ME2 than she did ME1 IMO.

My point is, the bean counters at the top concern themselves with profit. The devs and artist who make the game are the inspired ones, as I see it. Perhaps a naive view.

Problem is, the bean-counters can have a say in the content....unfortunate. This is what the op is trying to address, Albeit in a loud way.

I can see this derailing the thread.  Seriously, there are about 500 threads covering your question about Jacob on the boards.

Am I the only lady that doesn't have a problem with Femshep walking a bit manly? I actually think it makes things a tad more realistic, given her background. Yeah, maybe it's just the result of developer shortcuts, but when I imagine a life-long soldier, I certainly don't imagine her carrying herself with much feminine grace.

I know lots of girls in the Marines. They still walk like women. She is just a man-woman that BW needs to work on.
