Hey just wanted to see if ME2 is good enough (by your opinon) to be Game of the Year.

Now I know it isn't that far into the year, but quite a few games have come out-BC2, GoD3, FF: XIII, and others in the future- Halo Reach, so I just wanted to see if the loyal fans of Bioware think ME2 is GoTY worthy.

And don't just say yes or no. Thats wayyy too boring. Give some good examples. Bash other games for sucking. Bash what you think is bad in ME2. Bash other people for having "stupid" ideas.

And I'll post my reasons later if the post starts to dull or if I see some good ideas and/or stupid ones.
Who knows. Maybe a developer might take what you said is good or bad and put/ fix it into ME3....

So it begins....

PS: Have a poll up also (it uses SATIRE so watch it) and have another version of this in the ME2 Campaign Forums (this is the one I wanted to make in the first place)
Poll link: http://social.biowar...234/polls/5267/

So it begins again....

Yes. ME2 deserves to be game of the year far more than any game since ME1.

Well, it's a little early, but so far yes (and I don't see any really good games coming out this year)

I have to say yes. Most of the games are to short or just focus on multiplayer. God of War III was only 8 hours long with no replayability. FF XIII was so linear that it was no fun at all. BC2 I haven't played but from my friends who like it mostly for online but said main story is nothing to praise about. Halo Reach I'm questioning because Halo 3 was praised but I beat it in less than 8 hours and the rest is all online so that to me was just a waste. Now a game like fable 3 could be competition but I don't think it will be in the end. That series changed too dramatically for the fans of the first and has become way to easy. Once again a company who ignores its fan base and wants only casual gamers.

With Mass Effect 2 we see a game where developers really listened and pushed new ideas into the sequel. The game last around 27 to 30 hours and the new content adds much more to that. The characters are so much better and enjoyable to listen to. The story while not as good as ME1 is still really good and leads nicely to the next game. The graphics and cut scenes alone are such a vast improvement that it really brings a new and fresh look in the sci-fi genre. This game will have competition and in the end I feel like it should come out on top. Halo could beat it but only if they actually focus on the main campaign for once and not just multiplayer.

Starcraft 2: Comes out this summer or fall, also theres going to fallout: new vegas coming out, so that will be worthy competition. As for RPG of the year most likely, it really depends on how good new vegas is.

Splinter cell: Conviction disgraced its series.
Halo Reach is gonna be huge but end up in the toilet in the long run
Just Cause 2 was ridiculously fun, so some competition there IMO
Army of Two: 40th day is easily to replay to the end of time

I can't name off anymore games right now, my brain is in overload, but you get the picture

Oh, and my answer is yes
:)

Cool, I have noticed "too early" and if you haven't heard about a game by now, odds are it isn't going to be GoTY

Once (or if) we hit the second page mark Ill post my reasons

:D

Nice work keep it up!

In my opinon do I think it is good enough to be game of the year? For me no I do not think so. I am sure enough people well get it on the list to be voted on in the end.

Definitely a contender, if not the winner.

Yup, ME2 is my GOTY. None of the games coming out this year (at least that I've heard of) interest me, or if they do it's only a slight interest. Fallout Vegas? Yeah, I just recently got and played the GOTY edition of Fallout 3. Like Bioshock, I have to ask what was supposed to be so great about that? So, I'll pass on future games in that series.

Halo: Reach? Outside of Halo: Combat Evolved, the Halo series has only been just average shooters. I might get Reach, but unless I get blown away by the beta next week (looking at all the multiplayer videos they've released, I'll say that's not likely) it's not going to be anywhere near GOTY status. The next Call of Duty? Yeah, based on COD4, COD5, and MW2 I'll most likely pass. Any other games I've either not heard about or I just don't think worth mentioning.

Since ME2 came out so early in the year it might face added difficulty being declared GOTY since it won't be fresh in people's minds.

Of the games I've played this year it's up there with Bayonetta which is one of the best action games I've ever played. Too many people are worried about looking cool in front of their friends and passing on it, fools.

Too early for me to say, but it's a definite contender and probable winner.

I'm actually looking forward to maybe try out Alan Wake for some entertainment. Other than that I can see Halo Reach selling good because anything with "HALO" printed on the cover is going to sell like pancakes.

Yes, but I'm biased since I think ME/ME2/ME3 will be the best games of all time.

Is Obama's dumb ass on the dev team??

Then they are a shoo-in for GOTY this and next year.

Definitely a contender. But as others have said, Red Dead Redemption, Halo: Reach, and Starcraft 2 will give it a run for its money. Portal 2, Civ V, Deus Ex, Alpha Protocol, and New Vegas are all scheduled for this year and could surprise us as well.

Out of the games mentioned in the poll, I've only played FFXIII (I quit after a few hours, I didn't like it) and BioShock 2, which wasn't as good as the original. Right now, ME2 is likely the best release so far, but I think Red Dead Redemption and New Vegas will definitely be contenders. I didn't like Fallout 3, but Obsidian actually has good writers and some of the developers of the original games that will hopefully fix the trainwreck that was the Fallour 3 main quest and dialogue. I hope they'll also fix VATS so that it isn't so horribly broken.

I think it's good enough.

It's just that 2010 is putting up some stiff competition. GOTY usually are great games all around, single-player and multiplayer. ME lacks a multiplayer aspect, so some would see that as hurting its replay value. A lot of it depends, like it or not, on how Halo Reach turns out.

Other titles worth considering when thinking about GOTY material: the Pokemon titles, Super Street Fighter IV, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, Splinter Cell ConViction. And those are just the ones I can get off the top of my head.

ANYWAYS, ME2 should be game of the year.
