Mass Effect 2 is Game of the Year for me (so far). Second for me would be God of War 3.

Acording to the critics.......and they are the ones ultimately handing GOTY awards....ME2 is the second best game ever rated.

That tells more about the critics than it does about the game. But I'm sure you love whoever is the most popular politician too, huh.

Speaking of politicians.....they tend to agree with those that represent their views because an idividual's view means little if nobody agrees with it hence it's always a good idea to show that other important people agree with you.

Most fans tend to like ME2 over ME1 and this has been repeatedly proven through polls on these forums with hundreds of votes and user ratings of the two games. Then there is also the metacritic score that shows that as a whole the critics also like ME2 much better than ME1. Like it or not that's how it is.

Mass Effect 2 is game of the year so far in my opinion. I think IGN has a pretty good chance of giving it game of the year since they gave it a 9.6, an extremely high score by their standards.
God Of War III is great but I think I Mass Effect 2 is more of a groundbreaking title.  God Of War III will certainly be nominated for GOTY but I don't think it will take the priiizze.
Unfortunately I think Starcraft II will probably end up winning game of the year from the majority of publications.
Deus Ex 3, Fallout New Vegas and Alpha Protocol are the dark horse candidates.

You can safely rule out Final Fantasy XIII.  The reception of the game has been mixed with most people agreeing that it is a dissapointment.

...unfortunately?
Oh right. Blizzard went up against BioWare. They are immediately the enemy.

Mass Effect 2 will never be my game of the year as long as BioWare and EA continue to release buggy products that go without support, and as long as they ignore and refuse to participate with their community.

Hell yes! Of all the game that I have (and I purchased most of the popular games) ME2 is the one that I have played the most. It has the best replay value of any game out there. Even further enhanced by ME1.
Honorable mention would go to Heavy Rain.

I was referring to Dragon Age.  The fact is that I won't support a developer who treats their players poorly and then tries to hide it behind a public relations mask, regardless of the game.

Unfortunate because Blizzard created World of Warcraft, a game that makes all gamers look bad.  Even if Starcraft II is great, supporting Starcraft II is tacit support for World of Warcraft because it's developed by the same company.

Well, the one award it is going to win, or at least should, is best story, nothing can take that way from it

Deus Ex 3 has the potential to have the best storyline of the year.

Deus Ex 1's storyline is the best I've ever seen in a game. Of course, Deus Ex is my favorite game of all time.

I really think Deus Ex 3 has a lot of potential, not just because of it's roots but also because the developers really seem to know what fans of the first game wanted in a sequel which they didn't see in the dissapointing Deus Ex:Invisible War.

Game of the year? So far, i'd say yes but there is some potentially great releases ahead so it'll be a tall order.

ME1 was a great game in its time but I cannot compare it to ME2 without making it sound like utter crap because ME2 is a billion times more amazing and completely dwarfs it. ME2 is just simply beyond absolutely amazing.
