Due to a number of technical issues with my current computer, I'm looking to upgrade and replace it wholesale. Of course, having played through both ME1 and ME2, I don't want to loose my characters and so forth for when ME3 rolls around. The question is, what would I have to save/copy in order to transfer saves over to a new system?

in Win7 64bit the folder C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Documents\\BioWare\\ contains all user data. Copy that one, start up ME on the new machine to check whether the same folder is used and if yes, copy the old stuff into the new folder :-)
It is generally a good idea to leave the old HDD intact until you are sure that you need nothing from it for the new system. Or to re-use it as a secondary drive.

Many thanks. I certainly wasn't planning on throwing the old one away in a hurry, but I appreciate the advice.
