I watched a few videos posted by someone where a player soloed just about everything with an archer rogue on nightmare. It looked very fun to me to be able to do that sort of stuff with relative ease, so it got me interested to do a playthrough on an archer rogue, which gets me to why I'm posting this...

Thing is, I'm completely new to rogues. Just to give you an example, I have no clue of whether I should go for cunning or dexterity or both. I also need to know what items are recommended.

So far I'm thinking of maxing out the archery tree and getting bard for the attack bonus sustainable. I think it was Legionnaire Scout that was recommended on the video for an invulnerability spell sort of thing. I wasn't told the third specialization so not so sure on that. Maybe ranger for extra DPS in the form of a pet?

As for the gear; Felon's Coat seems a given as I already have it and it has great stats. Not sure on the boots/gloves/helmet because there don't seem to be many good choices around. For accessories at least Key to the City. Not so sure on the rest of it because I kind of want my tank to have Lifegiver and Spellward. I could take them myself, though, if necessary. I think Far Song should make for a good bow even through Awakening. I played it without rogues in my party so didn't pay attention to any bows I came across.

Any pointers appreciated!

For Awakening, I'd go pretty much max dex. You get a sustained called accuracy that gives you something like 1 point of attack, 1 point of damage, and .5% crit chance for every point of dex you have. It's crazy. 30 or 40 cunning might be good if you want to beef up your song of courage (if you're a bard), but for personal damage dexterity is definitely the way to go in Awakening. If you're actually thinking of soloing, ignore Bard. The song bonuses won't even come close to matching up to high dexterity with the accuracy sustain.

Just a note on this - the one thing wrong in the articale is that Arrow of Slaying is always worth using if you can because it's a double critical at worst.  And if you go with a pure dexterity build, it's also only reduced by armor once, versus the twice that two seperate critical would get in a slightly longer time frame.  Also, Scattershot from Stealth forces a critical on all targets.  And optimal Awakening archery build is not an optimal Origins build however, even if you're using one of the mods to allow access to the Awakening skills in Origins, because of how late you get Accuracy.  So you may want to do a Bard/X cunning focused buld through Origins, and then respec as soon as you get to Vigil in Awakening.

As far as your weapons itself goes, your choice is really Far Song or Bregan's Bow.  Bregan's Bow is likely the best choice in Awakenings, and the Origin's version is the second best. The DLC for Bregan's doesn't require authorization, so no real reason not to get it.  Since you'll be pushing 100%+ crit rate, the critical damage from these two bows exceeds everything the others offer.

Has accuracy been fixed yet? When i played through dao it was broken and the talent ALONE doubled my dps (from 40 to 80)
I decided not to use it at that time. I plan to return to awakening soon after i finish my rogue in origins is accuracy still the same?

Edit: No the best bow in awakening is the bow master wade can craft for you. The heartwood bow.
