One movie that did scare me when I first saw it was Poltergeist. And it would scare me each time I saw it, too, for a number of years. Every time I watched it, I would be unable to be comfortable in front of a mirror for days, and would worry about what I'd see out my bedroom window, or seeing stuffed animals looking down on me, or what was in the closet or under my bed. Heck, even television static became worrisome.

See....I don't find gore scary.  I find it usually laughable because it is over the top cringeworthy sometimes but never scary.

its not so much gore i'm scared of, i can easely look at the part in saw VI were the dude gets cut in half.
but i just cant stand the side of bones being broken.

I wasn't alive when Exorcist came out. It preceded me by at least a decade, I think. Researches...

1973 it was.  Yep, decade-ish.

do you guys beleive someone can realy become possesed? i've heard from it, but i dont know what to beleive with everybody saying different things.

I was thinking of going to one of those churches that they show on TV where they do exorcisms on people in the middle of a sermon or something, see if they can exorcise something out of me.

Oh yeah...those videos <_<, whenever I see them, my faith in humanity plummets and my suicide contemplation rises.

Regarding the op topic though, never watched it, never will, looked lame as f*ck, I agree with busomjack, I can't stomach supernatural horror films.

As a few others already said, I didn't see the movie until I was much older so it didn't have the same scary effect it would have had if I was younger.

The first movie to really scare me was probably Event Horizon. I saw that before most other scary movies and I remember jumping a few times. Nowadays, it doesn't have the same effect....
