ME2: same character, remembering the Cerberus faction in ME1, blew up the base.
ME3: I think if you blow up the base at the end of ME2, you get the Geth on your side in ME3. If you don't you get some heavy duty Reaper tech. Either way it will balance out. Just like with Caradin in Dragon Age -- destroy the forge you get the Legion of the Dead (I think the name Legion in ME2 was a hint), or a few golems if you didn't. Ive done both in ME2 so we'll see.
otherwise I go through the games pretty neutral. I'd call it the opportunist.

I really wanted to play as a renagade, but I just don't have it in me to behave like a dick towards people. Even if it is just some text on a video game.
I actually tried a renagade playthrough the other day. I got as far as Tali on freedoms progress and had to switch off.
The wierdest thing about it though, is that it really put me on a downer. I guess I just don't have it in me to talk to people like they are **** when they don't deserve it. Give me **** though and I'll jib you in the neck hehe.

Regarding ME2 I do disagree with Bioware a lot when it comes to what they consider to be paragon or renegade choices, though.
Right. Some are just smart tactics like Shepard shooting the explosive tank under the Bloodpack Krogan or snapping the neck of that merc who mouths off to you on Miranda's mission. I mainly play Paragon though. Most of the Renegade choices just make you seem like a jerk rather than a badass as that loading screen says. My Paragon is a badass without firing a shot. He tells that guy's lawyer he's a Spectre and the lawyer all but craps his pants. That is badass.

I play as Renegade generally but a flexible renegade. I can't play 100% renegade and choose the lower-right option on the convo wheel every single time because it simply makes no sense. You come off as being a complete and utter jerk in some situations.
Especially in conversations with companions I often go with the middle option and sometimes (but quite rarely) the paragon option.
So I guess you can say im a Paragade with emphasis on renegade.
Pretty much this. Though for all the big decisions I prefer renegade except for maybe one or two choices. When it comes to Samara/Morinth for instance I think it is more in-character for my Shepard to help Samara. However I really want to see how Morinth plays out in the next game. My other Shepard, a woman, is a paragon and while it is somewhat out of character for my main Shep to help Morinth it would be waaaay out of character for my paragon to do so.

Likewise, on my full renegade playthrough I ignored the gas grenades
on Feros and told my squad to return fire on anything hostile. I
suppose I could make an argument that Shepard wasn't taking chances but
he could have tried the gas grenades first. If the non-lethal grenades
weren't working then they could switch back. It really didn't feel
right to just kill all the colonists. That was the only time I didn't
save the colony at Feros.
That's another one where I actually prefer paragon. The renegade choice there is not fleshed out very well and it just feels careless. The ironic thing is it is easier if you use the gas grenades. My only gripe with it is that if you save everyone then Fai Dan's death feels a little out of place.

So, I either play full paragon or paragon with some minor renegade choices just for fun.

I personally found it fun bieng sarcastic and rude to people I don't particularly trust or like. Although I make sure to be at least neutral and understanding with my crew. They are my closest allies. And when some of the bigger decisions come up, I choose the paragonish route such as letting the rachni queen live and helping Zhu's Hope.
Although I felt kind of bad when I ultimately decided to let the council die. Garrus called me "Human" in a rather hateful tone. Which made me kind of sad considering I'm planning on making him my LI in ME2.
Ultimately, I enjoy playing Paragon the most, I don't feel as bad playing that way, although I do occasionally make a Renegade decision. Just to even things out a little.

This is strange, because on my playthrough Garrus was telling me not to save the council but Ash said 'this is bigger than humanity'. Oh the irony!

It's not strange. If you paragon-charmed/intimidated Ashley then she'll always call for saving the Council. Thus if Garrus is there he'll argue to sacrifice them.
This **** aint complicated. Don't you people even play the game?
