why so many ME fans wanna see a movie, TV series or anime based on the game?
to make a movie like this will require a huge budget and hardest work. I think that Hollywood is not ready to spend such money and strength.
Taking the example of Prince of Persia. also this game is damn popular. The first part came out about in the 90's but the movie have decided to shoot only this year!

I don't want to see a movie, I am happy they are continuing the comic books.

The reason I don't want to see a movie be made is cause my Shepard is a girl and they will most likely use a male Shepard. Same goes for TV series and anime.

After Star Trek, science fiction movies are promising blockbusters and Mass Effect already has a well developed context and plot. The main risk is that Hollywood will bank on preexisting enthusiasm among the fan base to churn out a mediocre script.

I don't want to see a movie based off of the game, I want to see a movie that is in the same universe but a different plotline altogether, like a movie about the first contact war or somthing

It depends on if we're talking live action or cg? Live action, meh, I could hardly care less. The story is ok, but I think other stories/novels pull off sci-fi better to make the transition to tv/movie screen. If it's a cg movie, sure. Bioware's cg is pretty damned awesome.

I really think peter Jackson should do the mass effect movies with James camron and have a good cast but make the movie way better than the games.

Did you say anime!? ANIME?? Now THAT would ruin the franchise much more than Uwe Boll!

Anyway, like it's been said before, a movie based on the trilogy is more or less impossible to make, and to be successful at that too, because of the myriad of decisions and consequences the story is based on.

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie based on the same universe tho', something similar to Firefly/Serenity maybe, with a group of individuals struggling during the Sovereign/Reapers invasion...

I would cringe at the idea of going to see a movie based around the Mass Effect universe even if it didn't follow the story within the game. There are other stories hinted at and easily available that would give writers a bit more freedom... but the list of even _decent_ game to movie translations is... well... it's short. ok, I can't think of any off the top of my head that actually related back to the game with any degree of justice. Bloodrayne made me want to rip my eyes out. I don't think anyone even remembers the Super Mario Brothers movie...

They rarely hold to the basics of the game's 'reality' as it were let alone the characters are typically presented in a very shallow view as you're supposed to already know who everyone is and what they're all about...

Heck, Hollywood has a hard time getting their own stories right, and any attempt to rip off other media for material rarely ends well. Yes, there are some exceptions, but let's be very clear in identifying them as exceptions and not the general rule. When people say they'd like to see a movie, show, etc they're making the drastic assumption that whoever did it would actually do it RIGHT.

I agree. Some books and comic series i think that's enough.

If we are waiting for the series something like battleship galactica or Babylon 5 - I'll blow my top
repeat the script of the game - this is not the best idea I think.

Movie completely impossible to make. But I'd like to see something like Farscape. but just with the ship, characters and the universe from the game.
P.S. Uwe Boll is really sucks!

Well, ... given I have one of the comics (CE bonus) and taking this as an example, I highly doubt that any movie or TV Series could catch the awesome story/gameplay and combine it into something worthwhile watching.

Whoever it is should use the money that would go towards making a movie to make me into a wealthy man. I would then use the money to cybernetically enhance my daughter and drive her away with my overbearing style of fathering.

A movie would be great if done right. Since the chances of it actually being done right are slim, I'd say no, no movie please.

well I'm sure you'll all be pleased/disgusted by this then

A movie of Mass Effect would have to be on par with Avatar in terms of budget and quality of the effects to be any good and I'm not sure any studio would bankroll a project of suck proportions based on a game thanks the to abysmal track record of video game movies.

It doesnt really matter, there's a good chance hollywood would butcher the script.

By Thor, no. Avatar was only eye candy.

yah but I also agree it needs to be on par with Avatar in terms of eye-candy-ness.  But script wise, eh, itll still probably be butchered.  so there are few things against it.  Need of big budget for CGI, big budget for a large cast, and finding a script writer that holds true to nature of game, also movie has to find a way to condense to a 2-3 hour movie from MAss Effect 1's at least 10 hours of gameplay.

it can be done, just a few obstacles.  Posted Image

There would also be the small issues of player choice and Bioware not wanting to create a canon Shep.

There's too much chance of it being butchered , it's already cinematic , but we actually get to decide how it goes. Leave it alone I say.

I agree, their CG was awesome in their short vids. Perhaps a CG film of one of the books, or even something previous in history like the contact wars. That would be pretty cool.

A real life movie with actors... not so much... the probability of failure is almost certain. Then i'd have to yell that this is an outrage!
