Neh.

A Mass Effect movie really isn't as bad as everybody is making out. The only real risk, as has been observed, is the script and actors. After Avatar, Star Trek, and the game itself, the special effects and set designs are already taken care of.

CHRISTIAN BALE AS JOHN SHEPARD.

IF WE DON'T FIGHT THE REAPERS WE ARE DEAD! WE ARE ALL DEAD!

(T4: Salvation reference)

However, a straight forward adaption would probably be better as a mini-series, each hour-long episode focusing on a different phase of the game.

Episode 1: Eden Prime

Episode 2: Citadel

Episode 3: Therum

Episode 4: Feros

Episode 5: Virmire

Episode 6: Noveria

Episode 7: Illos

Episode 8: Citadel - End

Alternatively, combine Episode 7-8 into an hour-and-a-half series finale.

A Mass Effect movie would be as pointless as a Transformers 2 action video game or a backstreet boys musical.

A movie would be to weird for me. When I go see it I would see Shepard and get up and yell, "Hey, that's not Shepard, my Shepard's the real Shepard, impostor."

There should not be a Mass Effect movie based on the trilogy. There is plenty of other stories in the ME universe. I put my vote in for the First Contact War.
Also I’d like to add that Shepard does not make ME, ME is the whole of the universe created by the wonderful people at Bioware.

^^^ This would be a decent idea, but the turians must not be handled like an evil, fascist alien empire. That would ****** me off instantly.

Two words. "Wingcommander movie"
It was made with the help of the people that made the games and universe.
It still sucked. :)
So no Mass Effect movie please.

Damn you right!

This.
A movie might work if this were a game with a specific character and a less choice oriented story. If it were like a GTA or something. An ME movie might not make much money because too many gamers would refuse to see it because it's not their ideal Shepard. It wouldn't be their "cannon" so why bother seeing it? I sure wouldn't.

If someone can name three video-game adaptations that weren't complete critical flops as well as actually staying even remotely true to their source material, I will rescind my argument that wanting a Mass Effect movie is basically saying "I hate Mass Effect and want the non-gaming populace to think it's trash"

Most of the series are junk, and when they are based on something they tend to be even worse. Movie with huge budget and good cast/director sounds great, but not if its anything less then epic.

Watched Halo anime and was not impressed by it at all, so dont think it will work out for ME2.

no one would spend so much money, unless the project doomed to success.
By 2012, I don't think that cinema industry will change much and there will be some perfect director with the words: "I'll make a movie that expected of me fans of Mass Effect Video games."

I agree with the sentiment that a movie should not be made based on the trilogy. It's bioware's own fault really. They tend to make story lines highly custom and, therefore personal. If they were to make a movie about Shepherd, it would put off the fans because it's not 'their' Shepherd. Think of all the female Sheps, the ugly Sheps (good fun), the pure paragons, the pure renegades, etc. It would cheapen the unique game experience that the game provides.

This thread is kinda pointless as I think Bioware has already stated they are in the talks for a movie.

I like story of Redemption's series. It's not based on trilogy. (well, maybe lil bit)

there are reminders about Shepard, but he's not visible. so that everyone can imagine their own Shepard.

Unfortunately I do. Everyone involved stands to make a sh*t load of money. Thats always been reason enough for Hollywood.

The Halo flick didn't happen and freaking Peter Jackson/(guy who made District 9) was attached.

I pray to the Gods of whatever that this thing doesn't happen. If it does NO PREQUEL. Fans always fall into the wow the first contact war/krogan rebellion/rachni wars would be cool to see and no, no they wouldn't.

It doesn't need to be about Shepard! Why not a cg movie about the First Contact War/ Krogan Rebellions/ Rachni Wars? They would not need to care about consequences because all these events happened before ME1.

 dude it's boring! Shepard is Mass Effect. without him it's just gonna be usually galactic story.

Yeah, people aren't going to pay money to see that.

And i ask to you: How can you be so sure about it?

I can't say what most fans want to see and neither can you. But i am sure that a movie about those themes is a logical alternative for those that don't want to see a man that looks like the default Shepard and it's a good way to show to us the biggest events that happend in Mass Effect's universe.

Pat one, boring is subjective.
