When editing a mao file for hair, does this line mean position?

Hey all, I am just curious about this. While I was trying to get some hair files to show up in the Toolset and editing the MAO file I noticed this line..

<Vector4f Name="mml_vFalloffParams" value="0.80 10.00 1.89 1.84"></Vector4f>

I am clueless as to coding and am curious, is that the position the hair sits on the head? If it is, and say that was made for the human female head, would I be able to edit that string to position it onto an elven female head, assuming I could find the positioning for that?

If not, is there anyway to be able to get a human female hair to sit right on an elven female head without having to edit it in some 3D program?

Thanks a ton!

The mao file has nothing to do with the 3d representation of the hair. That line is probably used for blending textures together, but don't quote me on it.

The file you are wanting to edit is the mmh file, and while you don't technically need to use a 3d program to make it sit at the right hight on a different head, it most probably will look funny if you don't.

Thanks Chewy! I was hopeful but I think your right, looking back at it and the rest of the files are about textures, that should of clued me in, ..just call me Captian Obvious. Posted Image

and yeah, I edited the files, managed at least to be able to see it in the Toolset under the Elven Hairs, but it was much to high up on the head. Was just hoping there was an easy way to edit that within the files...no such luck I take it! Here goes months of reading to see if I can find out how to go about getting the Height right!

Thank you so much for your reply, I apprecite it very much!

Actually, looking back at it, thats probable specular falloff. That still isn't helpful though :(

You should be able to lower the hair by looking for the mesh part of the mmh and lowering the translation vector, however, as I said, the hair was made for a specific head mesh and doing this will not only change it on elven heads, but every head that uses it. Also, it would probably not line up properly with any other head even if it was at the right height.

Hrm, thanks Chewy...Gonna have to look at that one. The hair is a custom one so it isnt linked to anything ingame I believe, I just pull them up and use them via the Toolset when I make my Head Morphs..

Guess it's time to go play and see how long it takes me to break things!

Hrm, would you happen to know what that string looks like off-hand? I am seeing things like...Under MMH Children, I have about 7 drop boxes..am I looking for the value of those that are mshh? Then when I click on any of the inner boxes, I guess anything under the value of trsl? Then I see this..am I getting close? (Without the =, apparently I cant space it right)

Name =  Type = Value
MMH_TRANSLATION =  VECTOR4 =  0,0,0,1

I really apprecite your help btw, cant thank you enough..really wish I understood all this coding.
