I just found out today that I am getting a new computer with a good video card, so I will finally be able to run new PC games (I haven't had a decent PC in years.) I know there is a thread for which each of you will be playing on, but I'm trying to figure out if I should pay the 49.99 for the PC version or the 59.99 for the 360 version. What are the pro's and con's of each? I'm not much a modder so that isn't really a draw for me, but is it possible to download other players mods? Any input would be greatly appreciated

Which is more comfortable to you playing on your pc or on your platform?
Then choose.Otherwise not too much difference...only in gameplay since modding isnt your thing,I hear from some previews once you get your head around the x box controls it becomes very easy to use and quick....i also hear they are trying to get all mods to console but no news yet on how it is going.

PC version pros:
+Toolset
+Mod support
+Cheat console
+Mouse and keyboard
+Ability to pull out and get a better overview of battle
+Lots of enemies at once
PC version's cons:
-Your PC space is usually not as comfy as the console space.
-No controller support
-Steep requirements
Console version pros:
+You can play it on your couch
+Controller interfaced
+You can play it on your TV monitor, which is only a pro if it is over 32" large
Console version cons:
-No mouse/keyboard support
-Enemies come in waves instead
-No support for community mods or cheats
-Not able to zoom far out

I'm actually using my TV as my monitor for the computer so I have that going too. It's looking like PC will win for now, but maybe my opinion will change.

Well how good is the PC you are getting? Keep in mind the PC version is cheaper and will most likely have better support.

It's nothing spectacular, I'm actually receiving it as a gift. All I outlined was a good video card (1024+) and a good amount of memory. Who knows what I actually get, but I'm pretty sure it'll be okay.

Then I will assume it would be able to play at at least medium settings and recommend buying the PC version for its pros listed by Mordaelil. Especially since the cons do not feel like cons to me.

Gaah, please be more specific in your video card request... There are a lot of truly awful video cards to which they attach a ton of video RAM that doesn't make it any faster.
Make it easy: just ask for a 5750, 5770, or 5850.
And, oh yeah -- get the PC version. No question.

I think the only times they come in waves are for the really big fights otherwise i think most fights will be regular...

I just ordered a PC with a 5870. I needed to give myself a treat after having had the same old PC for 4 years. It finally broke down a few days ago, so I took that as a sign to get a new one.
Edit: Just in case people aren't familiar with what I'm talking about...

If you can get that high-end PC, I would strongly recommend getting it for PC.
If nothing it'll future proof your game for mods even if it's 10 years down the lines (looking at you here Baldur's Gate.) And if you get uncomfortable, just plug it into your TV and stick a gamepad on to play like the 360.

PC all the way! Cheers to you modders!
To answer your question about trying out other peoples mods, yes that is pretty much the whole point of creating a mod for a game like DAO. Putting your imagination down in the game and letting it loose to all of the other people who may be interested in the mod.
