i just bought Awakening pacl today and it seems to hard to play with just one party member. the female knight died after drinking the blood and the mage which you group up with at start also let gone or you choose to kill him.
its just me and oghren and im playing rogue. i have to use 5-7 greater health pot during each fight and its really annoying. did i miss a party member? is it the right way to play this with just 2?

no, there is a whole group ultimately available ... as a result of doing quests.

There's another one in the Keep and then the rest are in other locations. You could have up to 6 depending on what you do when you meet them.

If you decide not to take the mage Anders then you will lack a healer....so no, its not too hard, you just made it hard on yourself. I think you also missed the rogue (Nathaniel Howe) in the dungeon of the keep.

Where are you adventuring? Leave Black Marsh till near the end. Do the side quests first. Amaranthine will yield a lot of things to do.

lol, no. The party npcs are in Hirol Ruins, Forest and Marsh...you can get three at beginning (Oghren, Anders, Nathaniel)... And the game is steam roll x-press. You can just walk through fights without taking damage...

Velanna is a mage, you can get her in the Wending Woods.

I've played Awakening as a mage, warrior and a rogue. Even on Nightmare, it's still easier than Origins. I have yet to have a character die. My first transfer character started out naked and she still didn't really take damage.

The OP sounds like a noob who's never played Origins before. You NEVER kill off companions or refuse them when offered. You can always send them away later if they really annoy you.

Unless you like to, y'know, RP or something. In an RPG.

Its actually a bit of a dilema. If your roleplaying a lawful guy you don't want an apostate mage like anders and certainly not a criminal like howe in the party. That means it's a 2 man party until others show up.

And it can be pretty hard with a 2 man party i played it myself. Took a long time until i got Velanna. You have to fight thru the entire forest first with a 2 man party. So there.,

You can always skip over and grab Sigrun with a minimal amount of combat involved. You don't have to do that area right away to get her.

The expansion is relatively far too easy, you can solo the game without worrying too much about recruit any party member with the proper gear especially when Awakening gear seems to have overpowered stuff.

You play very differently from me.... I never run out of mana with mage - at least with PC mage - and rogue damage is insanely high..........

I've never played Awakening with a PC mage yet, but Anders never runs out of mana for me, even though I respec him to have far less Willpower than he starts out with. (Velanna doesn't have that problem, either, although I don't usually respec her.) Taking the Clarity line of skills helps, too.

Awakening has some gear that has huuuuge willpower boosts. My Velanna has about 800 mana, so never runs out.

You're a Grey Warden - remember, whatever it takes to defeat the darkspawn, even if it means taking sworn enemies as companions.  Once they become Grey Wardens, they are bound to the same fate that you are.  Their pasts are irrelevant.  They won't backstab you like Zevran might do (he was never made into a GW).  In Awakenings, you are the senior GW and they have to fall in line because they don't fully understand what the taint has done to them and they rely on your GW for guidance.  That's playing in character.
