Two things should happen in ME3:

1) Shepard should be able to say "Ah yes, Reapers" to the Turian councillor at some point.

2) The Turian councillor should admit he has been wrong the entire time.

Council Dismisses the evidence.

Shepard: "I made the worst choice in galactic history by sparing the lives of soldiers to save you. Don't count on me being there a second time."

As amusing as the "Ah yes, Reapers" meme is, the council is trying to give Cerberus the finger and making excuses for not cooperating with them. The council races know the reapers are real, and so does everybody on the council. They're publicly denying it because they don't want to create a panic, but they're all working on things in secret to do about it.

The Turians specifically had the Thanix guns, which are reverse engineered Reaper tech. They know it wasn't really Geth tech, not least because none of the Geth ships were based on completely unrelated technology and had nothing comparable to it's firepower. Since then the races have all been doing things about it - the council races have ramped up military production (if the council died, they use growing inter-species tension as a cover for why they need increased production), the Asari got their fancy Silaris armor and enhanced drives. I'm sure the Salarians are doing something about it, but we haven't heard what it is yet. We didn't hear about it because their intelligence services are so great ;) The Alliance has researched and deployed its new Javelin system since ME1.

The Batarians were deploying those huge space based mirrors, presumably as a part of some kind of humongous laser defense grid (lasers ignore kinetic barriers etc). Whether they actually know about the Reapers or are just doing it to defend from the Geth's new scary flagships is unknown, but it's possible that the Council warned other major powers about the Reapers in secret.

That's my take on it too. It makes the most sense.

From what we've seen of the datapad (not much) it just shows one reaper and we've already killed one Reaper.

So for ME3, Reapers acknowledged, threat dismissed, Shepard saves the galaxy solo, again.

Now in my ideal scenario it would go something like this.

Councillor (doesn't particularly matter which): We acknowledge the existence of Harbinger but it's only one vessel. Even catching us by surprise humanity alone was able to defeat Sovereign, what chance does Harbinger stand alone against a united Citadel fleet.

Shepard: A damn good chance because he's not alone. The Reapers managed to wipe out the Protheans do you really think they did that with just Harbinger and Sovereign?

Councillor (again doesn't matter who): By your own admission the Reapers MO is to shut down the Mass Relays before begining their attack. With transit and communication cut off it would be easy for two ships as powerful as Sovereign to catch the Protheans by surprise and wipe out any in-system resistance.

Shepard [shakes head activates comm]: Garrus, Thane, Legion are you in position.

Garrus: Ready Commander.

Shepard: Drop 'em

Shots fire, and the three Councillors drop to the ground with holes in their heads.

Shepard [turns to Anderson]: Come on we've got a lot of work to do.

Turian Councilor dismisses datapad.
Renegade Shep response(we'd ALL say this): Are you a f---ing idiot?

Come on, at least ONCE can Shep drop the F-bomb?

I know right!!!!!

One of my farvorite ME moments was in ME1 when shep told the turian councilor to "go to hell"

Now if I can tell him to **** off... then I will be ecstatic

Turian councillor: ''This is clearly a giant squid edited on Photoshop to look like a machine, you have been manipulated''

Later on the Normandy....

Shepard: Joker, you know that data pad you gave me? The council said it was photoshop.....You would'nt know something about that would you?

Joker: Ha, yeah me and Garrus thought it would be a laugh, seeing you rush off to the council like that made us laugh ower ass's off. Samara said it was quite amusing, and Thane had a flash back of the only time he had ever laughed and mentioned how a human once mistook him for a fish.....What did you expect Legion said there was no data available.

I bet that when the Council sees the Reaper fleet, they'll call it geth, and then when Shepard comes with a fleet of mixed species (with brainwashed geth), they'll call it something else.

Goddammit.

Wanna bet the council develops "real estate issues" when the first Reaper ship is spoted by a non Specter and they will have to leave the Citidel to"deal with them"?

Shepard finally loses all patience with the Council and levels his/her weapon at the turian councillor.

Turian councillor: No, please...mercy!

Shepard: *BLAM* *BLAM* "Mercy"? I have dismissed this claim. /walks away

That'd be one of the worst (and yet awesome) one-liners to say after you kill someone.

I totally support the "Ah yes, Reapers" dialog for Shepard in ME3, but only if he actually gets to say the "Ah yes, Reapers." line with air-quotes. It's would just be a letdown if the dialog option said that, but Shep just said something boring like "Oh, so now you believe me."

As for the datapad's validity, personally I somehow feel that in the future they have probably come up with some sort of photoshop restriction management (PRM) technology. In todays world, you can photoshop most stuff, but in the future I'm sure we'd have already been through the "fakes screwing things up" stage and have made it harder to fake things. Thr Turian counselor is just a jerk convincing the other two that your crazy imo.

I like Turians, but I really want to kill the Turian councilmember. Unlike his compatriots, he is simply an epic douche.

That said it will be hard for them to dismiss the Reapers when the whole fleet shows up but they will anyway. Why? Because they'll just call them the Geth again.

Please dear god let there be a "Ah yes reapers.." Quote, complete with the air quotes. I want to shove their faces in it.

The Council will probably admit the Reaper threat but you still might not want to work with them. They might set undesirable conditions on your service. Only hardcore Paragons will stick with them if they do that.

True, the Batarians theory might not be true because of political tensions, but the Batarians are one of the 2 other races that seem capable in combat (with the other race being the Quarians).

I hope in ME3, the Council says they did worry about the Reapers, did believe Shepard, and only said what was said in ME2 because they are trying to avoid a mass panic.

There will be 2 interupts flashing up after the Turian Councilor spouts nonsense again :

The paragon one will be the air quotes response while the renegade one will be simply shooting him...
I wouldn´t know which one to take ^_^

Screw the datapad, I am guna show them to my smoothie machine. If they dont listen, I might accidentally trip and push them in... :P

The council believed a 10 second long audio recording provided by a no name Quarian who supposedly got it from a Geth's data core... And they didnt even analyze it or compare voices, they just listened to it...

Epic fail much?
