Using DATools, I created a skin for the Iron Chest placeable.  I was wondering, how do I go about making it show up in the game?  Do I need to create a new placeable?  I'm a bit stumped on this one.  Been plugging away at it all evening and haven't found a solution.

I believe it can be done through .xls file (same way as adding reskined creatures, for example), all you need to do is change placables.xls (DragonAge/tools/Source/2DA) and then proceed it with ExcelProcessor.

Just make a "placeable_types" worksheet , see here

I did make a placeable_types worksheet, but for some reason I cannot see the placeable in the game.  I wonder if I messed up something with the files I created with DATools.  I tried putting them in different folders but to no avail.

What's odd is I can see the skin I made and pick the appearance in the toolset.  When I place it in an area and load up the game, though.. it isn't there.

If you hit the 'tab' key when you're in the game, can you see the item's name? That would tell you if it's there and just "invisible" or if it's not there at all (another way to check is to place a 'regular' placeable, then change to your new skin and re-export it). If it's "invisible" then the problem is likely with the files you created with DATools.

What ID did you give? Higher than 65535 by chance?

It was, but I changed it to something lower.  I wasn't aware of that bug.  Now I can see the name of the chest when I hold down tab.  The files I created with DATools go in the override folder for my mod, correct?

EDIT:
Nevermind, I decided to redo my files with DATools and they worked this time.

Thanks for making me aware of that bug, I believe that was what made me bang my head against the wall this whole time.  Very much appreciate the help.
