I'm working on a small mod for Dog atm. I will change his fur color and his eyes. Or that's the plan anyway.

Thing is, my eye replacement-thing isn't working like I want it to.
Look here:

What should I do to not make him look possessed? :/ I tried to open the original dog eye-file but I don't think I managed that well since it was empty?

If i'm not mistaken the strength of specular reflection is controlled by texture which has name ending with s (similar how diffuse map ends with d and tint map with t) that said, these posessed dog eyes look excellent imo, i'd keep them or at least offer them as option.

I can keep them as an option, sure, but I'd really like a smaller reflection for my own Dog. Any idea where I could hope to find the particular file? I seem to be hopeless at this.

OK, checking it closer it'd appear that for the eyes at least the strength of specular highlight is controlled by alpha channel of the texture -- full black means no specular, full white means full strength of specular highlight. So to tone down your dog eyes you'd need to give your texture an alpha channel filled with dark shade of grey, or something to this effect.

Np. also, guessing by the name of the file, the original eyes of the dog are stored in the file "cn_eye_doga_0d.dds" -- it is included in the "textures.erf" archive, and doesn't have alpha channel at all which is the same as having no additional specular strength in the texture... maybe that's why you're getting different result, if your own texture has alpha channel included.

Yah, found those, but opening them only provided me with a transparent image. Getting another program now tho and will try again with different stuff ^^

These textures are in .dds format. If you have 32 bit version of the Photoshop there is a plugin available at Nvidia web site which can read and save files in that format. I think Gimp also has option/plugin to read that format, but not sure.

I'll use Gimp from now on and it works fine :)

Edit: I might only have half as much hair left on my head but I finally figured it all out :D Many thanks, wouldn't have been able to fix it without you :D

Here's Dog with almost completely black Alpha Channel. I will provide this option, the original ubershine option and also something in between (which I will use myself too) :)
