It seems like multiplayer would ruin a game like mass effect.  Even co op in my opinion is a bad idea for a game like this, if you want a 3rd person multiplayer game go play gears of war.  Could some one explain how this could even be possible in a game like this and how would not it not ruin the experience of mass effect?

Multiplayer if done correctly can extend the life of a product indefinitely. Also after playing Pinnacle Station of ME 1 there seems to be some room for a co-operative component that could possibly be implemented.

Totally agree with you. Keep Mass Effect a good single player experience.

Co-op would be nice. (As in, some guy can jump in and play one of your squaddies during gameplay or during special missions like Pinnacle Station)

Co-op could easily work. Up the difficulty a bit, and have one player play the combats as shepard and another as one squadmate. And give the option not to take other squadmates with you, so that both players just have to worry about their own powers. It would be so much fun to pull off combos like pull+warp where you do the pull and the other person does the warp.

co op would be kinda dull for the second player. All of the dialog would still have to be controlled by the first player. They would have to sit out some of the best aspects of the game.

Think of it as the main game is single player, but you have another mode that is basically Pinnacle Station.  (IE, Horde mode/Firefight/Survival)

Play as Wrex!

Play as Kaidan!

Play as Mordin!

Play as Ashley!

Play as Miranda!

Of course if there was a co-op mode it should be possible to just skip the conversations and get on with the real fun. It would work best for players who aren't interested of the conversations, probably because they're heard them before. And I guess some would actually like to go over the conversations any way, by deciding together which conversation option to take.

Actually, ME3 will be devoid of any conversations other than in cut-scenes and will consist of 100% co-op combat. Works out well, dunnit?

Maybe Im just stubborn, but i dont want to see them spending time on a multiplayer (which could be hit or miss) when they could be making more missions and deeper back stories within the campaign.

They can't even make the Mako/Hammerhead campaigns great, why waste time on multiplayer!?

Well in theory since it is based on the Unreal Engine it wouldn't be "too" extensive if they modded the game so to speak to add in Co-Op functionality and just use a couple in game maps for the mode. One problem though would come up when adding control over your squadmates as running around with a bunch of Shepards would be silly.

This.
Although IDK about co-op story. Would ruin it being your experience and all. And if they devloped multi-player, they might neglect other things.
They should add the feature in as paid DLC for those who want it.

This. But actually I wouldn't mind if they made one ME series for she shooter fans, and one ME series for everyone who likes their games to be like ME 1.

Co op would create lots of problems for the main campain. The only way that a multiplayer mode can be remotly added to a game like Mass effect is by creating a arena that is not part of the campain and where you dont fight as Shepard but as an other character that is specially created for it (I think Bioshock does something like that).

But even so making a balanched multiplayer mode would require many resources and I would prefare if Bioware would stick to a single player only game for ME3, considering that they already seem rather streched with all the things that they are working on (ME3, DA2, SWToR)

I think that the improvements to the combat engine and the similarity in functionality between it and the combat engine in the Gears of War titles are making people think that co-op is desirable in ME2.

The rub is that ME is not a 3PS title like the Gears of War games which have just enough story to frame the combat sequences. ME is an RPG franchise and I think that co-op in ME games would be disasterous.

I also do not want any multiplayer modes that will take precious disk space away from the ME3 storyline.

If there absolutely has to be multiplayer of co-op in the ME universe, then I'd rather see another spin-off title created for that purpose.

What about those who like their games to be like ME2?
A mix of ME1 and ME2 should be ME3, not ME1.
A seperate FPS/TPS series would be good though. I agree.

Basically what I am advocating is that Pinnacle Station would have made sense if it was Multiplayer. Given the combat in ME 2 an actual co-op mode of that sort would be fun.

If Bioware considered doing a multiplayer Mass Effect, then it should be it's own game, and not part of the trilogy.

If they want to make a pure shooter game, with all the multiplayer and co op modes I'm all for that,  As long as the trilogy is finished before this happens.
