Yay for co-op mineral scanning.

Seriously though, ME is too story/dialogue driven to effectively establish a co-op mode for its big finale. Maybe there's some potential here as a spin-off; something with a watered down and relatively unimaginative plot (read: Borderlands, Diablo). That would be fine with me. Hell, I'd probably even buy it. I just don't want it for ME3.

And for the record, I loved both of those games, but I've played wrestling games with more character immersion. And better plots!

NO, NO, NO, NO, and NO. I'm sorry, I can't support any notion of any type of multiplayer in Mass Effect, not a co-op mode, not a competitive mode, not a seperate multiplayer only game, nothing of the kind, it is all evil, evil I tells you.

There are already way too many multiplayer games out there, and extremely few even decent quality single player experiences, Mass Effect stands as one of barely a handfull of franchises that still provides an excellent, top notch, no compromises single player only experience. Much of the reason it is as good as it is, is because all the development, every single drop of funds and time, goes into that single player experience, it has to stay that way.

I've already seen Bioware and lucasarts destroy my last favorite video game series, by first handing KOTOR 2 over to Obsidian, and now years later, taking it back, only to destroy the series and gut it's once epic story and single player experience by making it a bleeding MMO. I admit I may actually subscribe to TOR, but it's never ever going to be as awesome a single player experience or as epic a universe as the original KOTOR was. I can't and I won't let that happen to Mass Effect, even if it kills me.

I wouldnt' mind for a multiplayer DLC, it works well on Uncharted, why not ME? As long as it doesn't take from the development of the single player game, maybe after ME3, it would be ok.

Save it for future ME games, ones targeted specifically for multiplayer. Leave it out of this trilogy.

I have nothing against multiplayer but single player must take priority. I would like some small missions with co-op or even 3-on-3 teammatch but it should be made for fast "just for fun" matches with no exp or anything.

If they do decide to make the Mass Effect series multi-player, I'd prefer it to happend after the current trilogy.

I'd rather have BioWare not waste their time and money on something that'll end up being played by only a 100 people in a few weeks.

If they do another ME game after the 3rd that is not related too the Shepard trilogy, then it would be fine but Absolutely NO co-op or multiplayer for ME3.

You're vastly underestimating the gaming community on manpower for playing a game like that.

A lot of people got turned off by ME1 and ME2 for a cache of reasons, making a Borderlands esque side game can draw attention.

Like I keep saying, keep it as a side project and not part of the main game.  You guys seem more unbearable to change then the Helmet Toggle community can't stand not seeing their faces infront of a mirror.

Yeah, I wish the developers wouldn't spend time on aspects of the game I don't personally like either. Namely Tali. I don't like her, therefore she shouldn't be in the game. She would be a waste of the developers time, time they could be spending making sure Commander Shepard has a pet space kitten. Oh, and let's get rid of male Shepard too, since I like female Shepard better. Oh, and you know what, we don't really need krogan either. Just get rid of 'em all.

I like that Bioware is a developer that consistently delivers in the single player realm. If their attention is divided, single player may suffer. At its worst, multi-player is a perk to help sell a game, with no real thought having gone into it. Rather not see Bioware take this route.

I honestly think a co-op option could work. The story people aren't going to be working on it, it's not extra work for the art people, it'll just be the gearheads that are implementing it, and you can just crank more of them out of the gearhead dispenser if you need to.

I don't see how the single-player experience would somehow be shortchanged if they want to add a new type of experience to the game. The game isn't going to suck or not suck based on this implementation decision alone.

Do I think ME3 will have any sort of multiplayer? Probably not. Would I enjoy it if it was implemented well? Yes. Do I think the topic deserves the amount of drama that surrounds it? No. On a scale from one to Tali's hips, I can think of lots of other issues that are worthy of concern/criticism/skepticism/debate. It's like worrying about it being shifted over to the Wii or something.

I'd like to see BioWare make a game that you have to play Co-Op from the jump. If they are able to successfully implement group dialogue into the MMO I would love to experience a game akin to Mass Effect or Dragon Age with a couple of friends.

Granted the work necessary for this endeavor would be substantially higher, as you'd need to write dialogue for all three characters but I think it's doable. I think it would probably be better suited for a Mass Effect type combat system though, as you'd most likely have to remove the pause feature.

Just make an ME MMO then everyone can experience with friends and broheems. This all seems like too much work for a franchise that is already on the 3rd Act.

It seems like multiplayer would ruin a game like mass effect.  Even co op in my opinion is a bad idea for a game like this, if you want a 3rd person multiplayer game go play gears of war.  Could some one explain how this could even be possible in a game like this and how would not it not ruin the experience of mass effect?

Agreed. People wanted multiplayer for Oblivion too at the time...how the hell would it even work??

Personally, if I want multiplayer experience, I play a game specificly aimed for that, currently this means Guild Wars for me. When I play Mass Effect, I want to enjoy the movie-like story, talking to characters, having fun with intense combat...just, you know, enjoy a single player game.

In before someone says: So don't play multiplayer if it's there. Not that simple. Games with that certain feature need to take that into consideration when the game is being made. What would that mean for Mass Effect? Imagine an Infiltrator with maxed Cloak and max Cryo Ammo taking on an Adept...who would win? The Adept who spams Warp like there's no tomorrow or the Infiltrator who can't even be seen before he nails you between the eyes with a cryo shot?

Putting multiplayer in a game always takes away a bit of single player potential. I don't want that for a gameseries like ME. When I was a kid, I could've never imagined to play a game that is like a movie. Now I can. Why ruin it with multiplayer?

Co-op Drop in/Drop out would be fine by me, other players can play your squad-mates.

Another "multiplayer" feature could be something like the monk in demons soul.(online only, other wise its a npc) lets speculate that one way or another there's going to be Someone chasing you around trying to stop you. when you finally end up fighting to the death, this character is played by another player chosen at random, they would not be playing Shepard but this aggressor would look like their Sheppard. would be a fun boss fight. just my opinion, could even throw some kind of twist into it.

It would ruin the feel of "epicness." This is about Shepard's story, not a bunch of random guys in suits running around and tea-bagging each other.

However, split screen co-op would work well. Online co-op would be even better with each controlling a character and the host handling Shepard. Think Fable 2. It had easy drop-in, drop-out co-op with the guest handling a NPC ally.

This is what I envision as well. The co-op players would just take over for your squadmates, but I would say that they should be able to choose which squad member they want to play. I know I would probably play Samara more often than not, Reave is my favorite ability.

Co-op could work just fine in ME. I'd like to see importing a pre-existing Shepard's stats to a different but equal character for co-op (another Spectre?). The important thing to me is that the other person doesn't get sidelined during the non-combat sections, they have to be included there too, otherwise it really would just be another bolt-on option. If it's impossible to keep them included in the game beyond combat, then ME is probably better off singleplayer-only.

Co-op, while nice, would be a helluva pain to implement in Mass Effect 3. I know that, and I don't even design games

And what about audience? The people who only play first-person shooters wouldn't care (and they'd take a good chunk of the multiplayer crowd away with them). The people who never liked Mass Effect and wanted to skip through the story wouldn't care. People who loved Mass Effect but don't have any friends to play it with, or who want it to be an exclusively singleplayer game, wouldn't care/wouldn't like it. People who play Mass Effect and want there to be co-op in ME3 would probably be interested... but unless the developers delivered an exceptional co-op experience, even those fans wouldn't really care all that much.

It's too much risk, too little reward. The only thing they'd gain would be a sticker on the box that says "2 players" and word of mouth, which is always very critical when it comes to gamers' opinions, so again, unless Bioware made it absolutely seamless alongside the singleplayer campaign...

It'd make more sense for them to just include a competitive multiplayer mode; less frustrating, probably more rewarding. But really, I'd rather see Bioware end the trilogy with a bang and expand the franchise to encompass shooters AFTER they've built up a good fanbase with the original trilogy. Also, I'd like them to put as much effort and time into building the third and final game as is possible. It can't be easy counting all your decisions over the past two games and then continuing the story to its multi-threaded conclusion.
