I have only been able to create one good looking custom male Shepard, who is now my main character.

I just go with the default Shep, he looks the best anyway.

I've been OK with 1 or maybe 2 custom MaleSheps, but never completely happy. Good old Sheploo > everything else.

Yes. I'm never satisfied. The opening animation is a big problem.

I imported mine from ME1 and have always liked him.

I go with default usually. It's because they have no real looking eyes the ones to choose from are all weird.

I just fiddled around with the default Femshep until I got something I liked, but Manshep was a pain in the ass. Got a mediocre one for my main male run (totally redid him on import and he STILL was meh). Broke down and used Tyrone Shepard for a secondary male, but oh god I just couldn't take the voice dissonance. This is probably the best male Shep I've seen, but he'd suffer from the same dissonance.

I don't like default Manshep. He looks...weird. And it will always bug me that he has a scar modelled into his haircut when there are no scars in ME2. Default Shepard, you contradict canon!

I always went with the default maleshep, it looked good for me. I only ever customized my female sheps and those usually only took about 5 to ten minutes.

The face editor caused me huge pain...

I made a decent Shepard which I've used in both ME and ME2, but every time I try to make a new character I get to the first cutscene and do a huge facepalm when I realise that what I made on the creation screen doesn't translate well to three dimensions.

The hair, especially, is really annoying. They all look plastic or ridiculous, the only one I can tolerate using is the close shave one. I made much more realistic (human) faces with Dragon Age, even though they were less 'realistic' options.

I doubt Bioware will be able to change it for ME3, however (for probably the same reason they didn't change it between ME and 2). It may prove too difficult to 'translate' the facial settings from the less complicated ME/ME2 system into a (potentially) more complicated ME3 system, and if they did make a new one people would be upset that 'their Shepard' now looks different. So we're probably stuck with ugly Sheps for 3 games :/

anybody else this stubborn or anybody else have too much time on their hands?

It is incredibly hard to make a pretty FemShep.

For MaleShep it´s not hard, though - it is impossible.

Usually I try to fulfil my vanity by making a character look like me as much as possible. I got it working, but realised that I'm an ugly mutha so tried to make a Jambie Bamber looking character, that failed, Casper Van Dien, Failed.

Gave up about seven attempts later. It can't be done. Only average joes or uglies.

fiddled a bit around until I had the right look for male Shep, afterwards I tried to just copy that one... maybe with minor differences like scars to keep them apart... or a thicker neck for the Vanguard one ;)

also, I was told that my Shep looks a bit like Bruce Willis, so I'm not complaining
danish model? ha... bwhahaha, bring it on :P

I also found it not too hard to make a good looking MaleShep.
For my FemSheps I need like 30 tries to get 1 halfway decent looking one.

I agree with OP. The unskipable cut scenes don't help. as awesome as the beginning scene is im so sick of having to watch it every time i want to re-do my character after screwing up his chin or something.

I've never tried to make maleshep look 'good'. I'm glad that I can scrub off the default underwear model face. There's enough of those on TV.

All the hair options suck, so after 15 minutes of failing miserably I just went with what I thought looked ok.

i've spent literally hours making my maleshep face. i hate sheploo so in order to enjoy my maleshep games i need a custom face i like.

i go so far as to reach a rough draft, play the game and when i create my next character i will continue to make improvements upon the design based on the camera angles i saw from the previous playthrough.
