My femShep romanced Liara in ME1. I found her cute with a nice personality, Kaidan was... just not my type. But Liara wasn't that exciting for me. That's why I moved on to Garrus in ME2. I already loved him in ME1 and was very happy when I found out he was a romance option. Garrus is awesome and I enjoy the romance a lot.

--I romanced Liara with my first FemShep ME1 playthrough. I admit, I did it completely because I was curious what the romance scene would look like. Draw your own conclusions about me from that as you will.

--The second time I played ME1, I romanced Kaidan. I actually preferred the Liara romance, in hindsight.

--When I played ME2, I started out romancing Jacob, because I could. Then I found out I could romance Thane, and that sounded more intriguing (alien vs. human), so I dumped Jacob for him. THEN I found out Garrus was romanceable...and I can't tell you how fast I ran back into Life Support to break up with the cute sensitive assassin, because I've had this big crush on Garrus for--well, ever...and finding out I could romance him made me very, very, very happy. I'm trying to do a Thane-romancing playthrough, but my heart isn't in it anymore, as it now belongs irrevocably to Garrus. Actually, now that I see the extent BW is willing to go to in order to carry over stuff, I've started replaying ME1 so that I can romance nobody and stay faithful to Garrus in ME2. I agree with Cerrydd that the romance was handled extremely well, although I really wish there was post-romance dialogue, like with some other LIs. Still, I can't complain (much), since it was fangrrl nutcakes such as myself for whom Garrus was included at all. ;)

Haha, spot on. At first I started flirting with Jacob, because... I can. Then Thane joined the crew, and he started me calling Siha. Thane > Jacob. And THEN Garrus started talking about reach & flexibility. DING DING DING, we have a winner!

Never dumped the other 2 though, I kept them whining about 'others having their eyes on me' and such. Heh.

What? I just like to keep my options open. I'm evil like that. *snorts another line of pink liquor*

Oh, and my manShep will romance Tali, because he will kill off the humans. (even though I like Jack's romance most)

In the first game I was with Ashley but then she had that rant on Horizon about you not telling her you were alive ,not talking to her when you were dead and she moved on so I hooked up with Miranda. Maybe if Ash is in the third game we can work it all out

I romance Miranda every single time. She is the only one who is on Shepard's level. All of the other romances are outclassed by Shepard's overall heroism. Personally, I don't understand the obsession with Tali. She has a interesting loyalty mission and she is a pretty cool character, but she has the most annoying fanclub ever. Especially considering, when I don't think that she is all that great. I romanced Tali my very first playthrough and I thought it was pure fanservice. In other words, it was garbage. On another playthrough, when Kelly talked about how Tali wanted to be more than friends with my Shepard, I was thinking "hell no."

Femshep Paragon: Kaiden in ME1... stuck with him in ME2
Femshep Renegade: Kaiden (same import)... undecided... probably Jacob because he is human, and seeing the prize video should be classic.

Sheploo Paragon: Ashley in ME1 then Miranda
Shaploo Renegade: Miranda (no ME1 import)

My thoughts:

Tali: Boring character (no face = less emoting).  Boring story.  Annoying voice. No challange (she throws herself at you... boring).  Emotional maturity of a 13 year old.  Nothing that attracts me to her in any way, beyond being friends... and even then I never bother to talk to her after my first completionist playthrough.

Jack: Not attractive.  Interesting, but I just don't dig the emotionally scarred rebel type.  I like a more clean cut type of woman.

Ashley: Not bad, but overall never really did much for me.

Liara: I would make her my LI if I did ME1 again.  Interesting character in ME1... but like Tali in ME2... kind of immature and throws herself at you.  Not appealing for that reason.

Miranda: Hot.  I like the femme fatal image/story.  She is a cold **** early on, but the loyalty mission shows you her caring loyal side.  I like a tough woman with a soft side.  Looks to kill abd great voice acting never hurt.  Being my most useful (and used) squadmate doesn't hurt either.

Morinth/Samara: Never felt I had anything in common with Samara... and I know better with Morinth.

Kaiden: Meh... good guy I guess... but I let my wife pick him (she was not interested in Liara, but I kept teasing that I would choose her as my femshep was designed to look like my wife)

Jacob: Meh... but I will prob choose him next just for a laugh.

Thane: Tempting... but I guess having sex with a lizard is not appealing to me.  PLus, I would never go for someone still so attached to a past relationship.  "I want you" after he spills his guts on his wife was never an option.

Garrus: He is my buddy, not a LI.

You and I are pretty much on the same page although I don't play as a femshep.

Garrus. Hoo-boy. I liked the character a lot in ME1, and when I heard people suggesting he should have been an LI, I was all "Huh, interesting." 7 PTs later and now I have a hard time romancing anyone else. He's a badass on the battlefield, and adorkable in social/romantic situations.

I do have exactly one PT staying faithful to Kaidan. I still kinda like Kaidan. He's a good second choice. :P

My initial intention for ME2 was to romance Miranda Lawson, because she has the adolescent appeal that I normally look for with all of those curves that she has. However, I became inexorably drawn to Kelly Chambers because of the considerably aggressive charm offense that she employees. My favorite line of hers is “I’ve always have time for you commander” and is indicative of her generous personality, she goes out of her way to feed your fish.

I don’t understand this demarcation people have assumed between her romance and others; when I compare her romance to the others I found hers equally as rewarding.

Interestingly, if I played as a femshep, I would have her romance Garrus. Garrus seems be an individual on Shepard's level. I wouldn't have her romance Thane because he is dying and he misses his wife and I woudln't have her romance Jacob because I hate Jacob.

I romanced Ashely in ME1 and did not intend to romance anyone else, but after she refused to join my team, and after hearing from Kelly about Tali's feelings for me, I was having second thoughts.

After Tali's loyalty mission, I had the conversation about Quarian intimacy. She's so damned cute when she acts nervous. :)

Although I will admit by the time I got to the point in which I could choose to back out of the relationship, (the part where Tali explains that if we were together, she could die) I was hesitant. I liked Ashley, but bieng able to romance Tali surprised and intrigued me. So in the end, I chose Tali. Right now, I feel like I made the right choice. :)

For my Femshep, I romanced Kaiden in ME1, and romanced Garrus for ME2.  Garrus was always one of my favorite characters, and considering that in ME1 my Femshep was a paragade, (she was indsicriminate when it came to killing bad people, whether it be a bunch of thugs or a Salarian who sold organs on the black market)  I felt like I gave her character development through making her realize her ways had influenced Garrus, and she stopped him from killing Sidonis so he doesn't end up like her.

Male went from no one to Miranda, I love Chuck so I really wanted to like Miranda but she didn't really give me a reason to until her loyalty mission. I hated how she blamed Joker for losing the crew though, for such a rational character, that irrational moment seemed completely out of place. I really disliked Ash and on my first ever ME1 game fell into the trap where not being a total jerk meant I was interested in her, was pretty disappointed when I flew to Ilos. Liara's social awkwardness was cute but she was too weak, always asking if I came to check up on her : /

Female went with Kaidan, I really liked him, he had the right mix of morality and cynicism, so that he was a good guy but he wasn't naive enough to think governments can do no wrong. Jacob was bland, Garrus really is more of a buddy character, Thane is cool but only has a year to live and is clearly still grieving the loss of his wife. Garrus and Thane are also alien, bit of a turn off.
