if you have no idea how to use the toolset the first thing to say is: this is not a beginner task. but, that said...

to add this as a fourth selectable race, take a look at:

http://social.biowar..._class_Tutorial

I know its for classes but I don't know if a tutorial for races has been done, and much of the same principles are applied to making a new race.

To tackle the genlock/hurlock appearance... In the section "Creating the UTC template file" - you could try making a utc that uses the genlock appearance. I really don't know the effects of this.... this is purely speculation on my part. If you wanted to test this before you go in and do it the "proper" way, you could try, for example, jumping into the toolset single player campaign... under the creatures palette > _Core_creatures > DO NOT TOUCH > default_elf_dal_r and change the creature's race and appearance to genlock, save and export the resource. Start a new campaign and see what choosing a elf > rogue > dalish ends up like. You should revert the resource to its original state once you're done testing, since im sure theres a reason it says DO NOT TOUCH in big letters ;)

Alternatively, if you want to simply start a module and force the player to be a hurlock... this was done in the standalone module Emissary.

good luck!

what are they going to win if they win the race? And how long of a race is it going to be?

handwalking you through this would take an awful lot of effort since i havent done this myself and figuring out exactly how to do it would be your job at this point. frankly, im just too lazy ;)

just look through the add a new class tutorial and you should be on the right lines. All the 2das you need to modify are in your Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Source\\2DA and can be exported by putting them through the excelprocessor.
