On the graph for most desired returning squadmate, Garrus is not present? I know for a fact that at least ONE person voted for him....

Yeah, Garrus needed to be in the polls... but great job nonetheless! I'm a dork when it comes to these sorts of things. I find them interesting.

Garrus is in there, but the one I have uploaded is the wrong one for that particular question. Sorry. I will upload the other one when I get home. Garrus is the highest by the way.

No one wants to see Mordin or Legion reappear in ME3 the most. Nice.

Was about to say the same about Ashley.

How come some charts only have a very small amount of votes while some have hundreds? Was this all the same test?

As a fan of RPG's I understand that a characters love interest is important to the story, but the amount of attention the topic seems to be getting is slightly disturbing. According to the poll, the LI should play a larger role than actual plot content.

I typically refrain from hanging around forums dedicated to a single game, so perhaps this is more common in forums than I initially assumed; but it still doesn't change the fact that the poll indicates that fans want ME to play more like a dating sim than an action RPG.

The first LI poll is a mistake, its from the first poll I think. Either way the second LI poll further down the page is the one for this particular poll. My apologies, I rushed when putting together the results and charts. I will proof it today and make the necessary corrections. Again my apologies.

In the "Votes for most desired returning squadmate" graph, Garrus is missing.  D:

He's in the one with the horizontal bars though.

Just to contrast this with some results of XX55XX's character poll a few months ago. The votes for "favorite love interest" went as follows:

Ashley 136 (16.0%)
Garrus 37 (4.4%)
Jack 44 (5.2%)
Jacob 2 (0.2%)
Kaidan 50 (5.9%)
Kelly 22 (2.6%)
Liara 115 (13.6%)
Miranda 154 (18.2%)
Tali 248 (29.3%)
Thane 40 (4.7%)

Your results in this regard, Deltaboy, are skewed three ways:
First, the numbers are too low. The question should have been put to everyone taking part, not only to a subset.
Second, there may be a correlation between the importance people ascribe to romance in the ME games in general and the LI characters they prefer. Solution: same as above.
Third: the fans active on these forums are an interesting subset, very different from those who came here in the days after ME2 came out. Look at the Garrus votes, for instance. I also suspect Liara fans might be more aware of this than others because you are so active in her thread. With the numbers as low as they are, that does make a difference.

For favorite squadmate (roughly comparable your "most desired for a return"), XX55XX's results were like this: Rated on a scale of 1 to 10 (best), the characters' means were as follows:

Mordin 8.7
Garrus 8.5
Wrex 8.4
Legion 8.4
Tali 8.0
Miranda 7.2
Thane 7.0
Grunt 6.9
Samara 6.8
Jack 6.3
Liara 6.2
Ashley 6.0
Zaeed 5.3
Jacob 5.3
Kaidan 4.7
Morinth 4.3

I count XX55XX's results as more representative. But anyway, I guess Bioware knows it all better than we do from the feedback the game gives to them, if you haven't disabled that option.

In answer to that ^ Different fans at different times in different moods and playing different characters.

I think it raises an interesting point though, and that is progression of desires / interest's in the gaming community.

I still love to see these things, and indeed continue to see them progress over the course of the next 12 - 24 months.

It will probably change continuously as new fans come, old fans leave etc. Maybe Delta and XX55XX can keep running them periodically and compile them in 18 months time and see what the results are. Then plot progression on a graph. I imagine initial characters might start low, then as people explore gameplay with them they might rise, and vice versa.

I think an interesting poll would be one that gets heavily promoted not just in this forum, but outside of this forum as well. Some other game forums or whatnot. See if the interpretation of the game changes when you get more toward the casual fans.

I totally like this idea and I think I will go advertise this poll in a few of them. Thanks!

I'm gonna also open up the entire poll to everybody. no longer is the first question a "block" or a "channel" question. I will erase the results and start over. If anyone wants to vote again feel free.

Since you're changing the rules again, Deltaboy, maybe you should post the link again when you're done changing. People who are not so determined to take part might lose patience with having to look for it.

The new version should also have a new version number as to not confuse people about whether they've already taken part, and a separate link in the OP.

Took the poll again, but this time actually put a considerable amount of information under the optional thoughts section. Also did a few of the "other" options for the direct survey questions as well.

Most frustrating element in ME2? I chose exploration, as in lack thereof. But close second was definitely the mineral scanning. Didn't think of that until I saw people use it as a write-in the first time around.

For what game I want ME3 to be similar to, I didn't want to say both because that would imply I'm adverse to significant changes to the third game. I like ME1's story outline and villains better, but I like ME2's combat and environment layout better. But there's a great deal that could be improved in the gameplay.

My definition of an RPG? Not customization of anything, but how a character's choices affect the story itself and how others react toward the character. If you import a mainly renegade Shepard into ME3, I expect people to start reacting like "Holy ****, Shepard is here!" If you import a mainly paragon Shepard into ME3, I expect someplace like Illium would be more open toward giving your ship a docking berth.

For exploration, it's not that I want more places to explore so much as explore more of the places we'd been given. We were limited to just one part of the Urdnot camp on Tuchanka. Why not be forced to explore the surface to get to either the Weyrloc camp or the keystone instead of driving there in a loading screen? Why not be able to visit other camps with different services for sale?

Relating to squadmate improvements
1) Increased squadmate interaction
2) Increased squadmate conversations
3) Increased squadmate customization (powers, armor, etc.)
4) Improved squadmate AI
5) Improved squadmate control

Relating to story
1) Free flow story progression and exploration - instead of being told when and where to go, leave it all open and have the player figure it out themselves
2) Increased story diversity based on decisions Shepard has made - ie, significantly alter a scenario based on whether the rachni queen was spared or not

Relating to additional NPCs
1) New love interests - if Blasto can have a different lady in every port, so should Shepard
2) New squadmates available - not forcing Shepard to recruit all new squadmates, but giving Shepard the option to do so - like how there were a dozen recruitable NPCs in Baldur's Gate, but you couldn't take everyone - not only gives someone the option for new squadmate experiences, but provides people with a means to rebuild a squad if a lot of them died throughout ME1 and ME2, and also gives someone the option *not* to get more squadmates if they want their old ones back

I've thought about this far too much this time.

I think the speadsheet is a good way for the ME2 designers to see what people are thinking.

Right now Ill just go with inventory:

Armor:
If I have 5 of ItemA, it shouldn't say it 5 times, it should say ItemA (5)
I want not whole suits of armor but more like ME2 where there were different attachments, parts, etc., and they should be acquired the ME1 way
Same goes for weapons

When I open a container, I should have to take all or reduce to omni-gel, there needs to be an option to: Take selected item (A), take all (Hold A), Leave all (B), Reduce all to omni-gel (Y), Reduce selected item to omni-gel (X)

An OPTION for no-helmet, like in Dragon Age (but an option, no set one way or another)
