I chose to use the Renegade option and get a share of the profits from him instead.
But what happens if you get a copy of the VI instead?

My guess is, the ESRB rating of Mass Effect 2 is too low for what the VI does.

I wish Bioware show what the Shepard VI is like. Perhaps they wanted to do it, but didn't have the time to do so.

Once obtained it would be nice if you could leave it with your ME1 love interest.

My guess is that it would be far to difficult to implement to make it worthwhile. You'd need to create an entire new system for handling a VI Shepard interface, since you would need to take a custom Shepard face, apply the VI holographic distortions and colors to it, and still have it look decent by the time it was done. It would just be way too much trouble.
Which is why they shouldn't have included the "Give me a copy" option in the dialogue, but, whatever.

Mouse and Bailey say that its got a lot of bugs in the software, so maybe it accidently deleted itself on the way to those real errors, or maybe the collectors stole it during the attack, a funny theory would be if legion purchased one from mouse during his hunt for shepard

they could've made one with a glitchy "face", which would make sense given its bootleg status and also avoid the issue of custom faces.
