Research mass drivers and tell me that again.

Mass Driver weapons in ME have equal recoil to the force they apply to their projectiles.  Though you can create monstrous Mass Drivers with Mass Effect, bigger than any gunpowder weapon, the recoil problem means that infantry weaponry has two advantages over gunpowder weapons.

1. Higher projectile velocity...(though seeing as the "slugs" are tiny the actual force they apply isn't much more than ordinary guns)

2. virtually infinite ammo (until the introduction of thermal clips)

Both of which don't matter when chief can move faster than Shepard and friends can aim their guns.



And on the Ship topic, the Covenant Super Cruiser was killed by Chief's own two hands assisted by a nuke he was carrying.  Shepard just called in the fleet to kill Sovereign, his only contribution to the fight was killing Sovereign's frog zombie, which somehow stunned it.

But Shep isn't tainted, so he'd have to kill every darkspawn in existance because the Old God sould would just keep body jumping (or whatever it does when a non-Warden kills the Archdemon). Then again, that would be pretty epic.

In that case I say we nuke Ferelden from orbit. Its the only way to be sure.
