I'm a bit confused. I read about this, and I don't think this should be happening, though perhaps some of you may enlighten me.

So I just did the IFF mission. It was the only mission I had. After that I gained Legion's loyalty. Then EDI said that the IFF was ready, but it was best to test it some more. Shepard and all his squad mates (all 11 I have) boarded a shuttle and flew away. In the meantime, the Normandy was boarded by a collector vessel, and I got to play Joker. As I moved, I saw many people die, among them Kelly, who was dragged into an elevator while she screamed.
Once he made it to EDI in the AI Core room, and they killed all the collectors, Shepard made it back, and was informed that Joker was the only survivor.
There are no other crewmen apart from Shepard, Joker and his team on board.

What has happened? After reading, it appears that no one else have had this happening. This all very strange. :S

No that happens to everyone. Keep playing, then see what happens.

It's a plot element, it's part of the story (thus it happens to EVERYBODY)

But, they're not dead yet, though they will be if you don't hurry and go through the Omega 4 relay

This is perfectly normal.

I'd recommend haste to the Omega 4 relay, though. Just make sure that you, the Normandy and your team are ready.

Yeah. I played a little more and I was relieved. I don't read spoilers and stuff before a mission, only afterwards to see what the outcome could have been if I had acted in another way, would have been too sad with all my crew dying just like that since I usually accept the outcome of a mission even though it could have ended happily. Looks like Mass Effect totally fooled me, with EDI telling me there was just EDI and Joker left and all that.

:P

Edit: I just realized that collectors usually kidnap their victims instead of killing them. Didnt really think of that at the moment of the attack.

Anyways, when you recommend me to hurry, does it matter if I have a chat with the crew onboard the normandy or going to other planets and things like that?

Don't forget about the Normandy upgrades, man.

Don't do the same mistake I did. You won't be happy.

I don't have any other missions anyway, so there's no point in going anywhere else, though I would have seen the citadel, or omega or illium for the last time first, but that's not important. Regarding the upgrades, I've bought everything, and I assume that the 3(?) upgrades (barrier, silaris and thannix) are of some relevance to the last mission since I haven't had use for them yet. So, I guess I am prepared.

Wish me luck! Collectors, here I come.

Hey guys i'm totalyoff-topic , but i need to ask if someone knows. After the iff mission when i get out to the cic, edi tells me to that the iff is ready at the same time. From the fear of losing half the crew. i dont activate legion because he might die in the suicide so i start immediatly. If i do also the legion loyalty mission will i have my whole or they will be oozed? plz someone answer me. all the other loyalty missions had been done.

Legion is pretty resilient at the end segment. Just have Grunt and Garrus stay behind with Zaeed (if you have Zaeed). Don't worry about doing Legion's loyalty mission.

You should've activated Legion, the last mission would be put on hold until you did it's mission.

You can still do it, but have to leave through the Omega 4 relay right afterwards.

One time my brother had Legion's loyalty mission (completed successfully) and he got swept away by the swarms anyway; he stepped outside the Biotic field in the cinematic cut scene. Shepard yells: "LEGION!!!!" and the swarms carry him off.

I think you need to upgrade his Sniper Rifle, like Jack's biotics and Mordin's tech, in order to eliminate the chance of that happening.

That is dependent on who is operating the Biotic field, not Legion.

No, the Sniper does nothing really. Your brother chose a specialist who wasn't loyal.

That can still happen with a loyal specialist who isn't up to the task

The IFF is one of the craziest game plots i ever saw.

As far as aquiring that device is not forced on player like Horizon or Collector ship so i can do all loyalty missions before IFF without risk but on the other hand each mission reduced Collector attack timer.

Heck once during my second run i go to dead reaper too soon and they boarded me right after i complete Thane's L-mission because i didn't get Legion L-mission active (didn't speak to him about that)and i done little too many N7 missions.

However i managed to get all upgrades and rest of the squad loyal so i pulled them all out (even unloyal legion survived as escort).

Key is that after reaper IFF we can do Legion L-mission and sometimes one n7 mission before attack will occured.

Some people says that they were able to do couple n7s before they go through Omega 4 and they don't loose any crew members in that base but truth is each delay after abduction increase risk of loosing whole crew.

However talking to squaddies on board is not counted as delay but each land on planets after attack.

I have a hard time believing the Sniper Rifle "does nothing" when not upgrading Jack and Mordin's stuff does something. Bioware would have to say so itself before I believed otherwise.

My brother definitely did Legion's loyalty mission.

I considered putting it to the test on my Sentinel run through, but I used Thane instead.

I'm pretty sure that stuff does nothing either.  I never get Legion the Widow and it survives everytime.

EDIT:  It is purely dependent on the person operating the Barrier, not your squad at that time.

Yeah, just head to the Omega 4 Relay as soon as you can. I repeat, as soon as you can!

And by the way, you're not the only one who thought so. When I got to that scene, I literally stood still and kept gazing at the screen, not believing what my eyes were seeing. Thanks to the ME Wiki, my worries were completely gone as soon as I read it was a plot element that has nothing to do with your decisions. Good luck on the suicide mission!

Yes, like other says if you chose Miranda, Jacob or any other biotic except Jack/Samara to hold bio bubble one of the sqaddies will be taken by seekers.

Reason is that Miranda for example lack of necessary endurance to move throught end of that sidewalk so she will be too tired at the end to use her biotic to keep away seekers and collectors when Jack or Samara at the end are stil able to use aftershock to stall any chase and let everyone to hide behind doors

Also a general advice to everyone, do NOT go to the Reaper IFF mission until you have completed all recruitment and loyalty missions, as well as character-specific conversations -- otherwise there is a very high chance you'll end up losing your crew.

It might be working on a probability curve.

I'm pretty sure Jack's biotic upgrade comes into play if you send her back with the crew and Mordin's does if you leave inadequete protection when you go off the face the Reapers. THey can compensate for the lack of linebackers with their own upgrades. Same might be true of Legion.

It is purely dependent on the person operating the Barrier, not your squad at that time.

Ah, now I get it. That would explain it.
